A friend of mines Turbo tax under estimated his taxes. Turbo tax fixed the error. He owed feds about $300.

A small amount of money but pissed him off. He’s a cheapskate. Makes plenty of $ but will only drive cars handed down by relatives.

I actually envy him. Being cheap is a good thing.

The explanation letter arrives next week.

For both years? If so is this as quick as IRS would send explanation for the $3,800 check they sent last year?

You gave the same information to the CPA as you did with that program. That’s why it’s important to stick with the same person year after year. A friendship starts and he knows what questions to ask. It’s impossible to ask all questions that is in the code.

What did TurboTax get wrong; or what did you incorrectly enter into TT?

Just curious; I use TT and I think it calculates correctly but it would be helpful to know if it has a bug.

I'm confused...

this unexpected check... is this just your normal refund that was calculated on the return, and the "unexpected" part is that you overpaid during the year?

Or did you send in your return, and the IRS sent you a check that was different than the refund stated on your return?

Do you make estimated payments? Did you forget about one/some?
