This and the lake make it pretty enjoyable.

All these high paying jobs in Dallas I have no idea when someone actually works sitting in traffic half the day.

The nice parts of Dallas are whiter than any suburb.

I'll be honest, lining amongst a homogenous population is probably the exact opposite of what I'm looking for. And No, not because I'm some equality or diversity loon. It's just 'interesting' is high on my priority list when I debate moving to a place

Sure, Park Cities and the hoods north of there are white. But East Dallas, which is a big area with many nice neighborhoods, is majority hispanic. Lakewood proper is probably majority white but all around there is hispanic. North Oak Cliff (Bishop Arts area) is majority hispanic. And those are two of the most desirable areas of Dallas.

I'll never understand why minorities are automatically "interesting"

I lived in Baton Rouge my whole life until I moved to Houston five years ago. I still love home, but I can say without a doubt that traffic in BR is 100x more frustrating than Houston.
At least if there's a wreck or bad traffic in Houston I have about 57 other highways I can take to get where I need to go. In BR I have I-10, Airline, and a bunch of surface streets

You do what you gotta do, man.
Houston just sounds miserable to me. I honestly would rather live in Atlanta or Birmingham because it's closer to cooler things.
Birmingham??? Atl come on down my friend it's a GREAT PLACE to live. Sooo many options for anything come to mind.

What a dumbass, ignorant OP. The traffic in BR is worse than Dallas, and there are actually places worth going around here. Cost of living is less in TX than the ridiculously overpriced housing prices of livable NO and BR areas.
I grew up and love LA, but i don't miss it.
Preach It!!! Preach Pastor!! Amen!
People ask why I moved I tell them "a better quality of life".

Conflicted on this one. I lived in DFW (Plano/Frisco area) for over ten (10) years, having left in 2005. Every time I go back for work or to visit friends, it seems to get more and more congested. Takes longer to get around and the "quality" piece of it appears to have eroded. Friends that still live there seem to share the sentiment.
I will always love the DFW area, but I am not sure it is a place I could live anymore.

As with any Houston/DFW thread, the good ole baws just cant understand why people would want to live in a big city.
Well baws no amount of explaining to you would understand why we choose this life, but how about you just enjoy sitting in your shite hole corner of the planet and let us live the dream mkay?
It took me 16 minutes down the PGBT to get to work today. 20 if some a-hole decides to crash at the I-35E connector (which seems to be happening a whole lot more often btw!!).
I live a smidgeon above Addison and can literally be in uptown in less than 20 minutes or at Legacy West in 10 minutes because well we have autobahns for highways and people actually drive here with a fricking purpose.
I make double what I would make at home (NOLA), deal with damn near zero percent culcha, have tons of dimes, and if I ever knocked one of em up, there's state of the art schools.
So
Stay in your swamp/kuntry and stfu.

The Texans are really coming out in this thread to defend their home state of Texas. I'll give Texas people that. They really love their state of Texas and are proud to be called a Texan.
