How does one actually decide to be a foot doctor? I’m not raining on pediatrists but who goes to medical school and decides to be a foot doctor? Watching my feet are killing me and can’t believe really smart people want to work on crusty arse feet. I have a “pretty” foot fetish but this stuff is awful.

When I was a child I saw a woman dangle her shoe from her toes. From then on I was hooked

None of the other cool residency programs would take them so it was be a foot doctor or work in a 3rd world country the rest of your life.

I’m sure it does but that’s not my question.

Absolutely no one. Podiatrists go to podiatry school.

Not every doctor can be a gynecologist in Beverly Hills.
Now for something completely different, I knew a doctor that did his residency at a hospital in Dallas, and he said that all of the stabbings in that city were committed by only two people. He said that every time he asked someone who stabbed him, the victim would always say "some dude" or "my old lady."

Foot health is only behind heart health in quality of life . You got bad feet you got nothing.

I agree what you are saying after having several bouts of gout. I almost took a knife and cut my big freaking toe off after several drinks, but that still doesn’t answer my question.

Are you talking about a podiatrist or an orthopedist?

I know someone with gout and they received great relief by taking turmeric.

I would say podiatrist. An ortho is just a surgeon

Podiatrists

Is that the show with the black girl? She was a few years behind me and basically failed out of school. She was allowed to continue because, reasons.

Podiatry schools have a really high attrition rate because of the lower admission standards. People go into it due to lower GPA or mcat and either quickly fail out of realize they hate feet and quit.

I ultimately chose it because of the practice mix and lifestyle. My practice is more surgical than many other podiatry practices. We do everything from bunions to ankle replacements. In Louisiana podiatry scope of practice extends to just below the knee. Podiatrists typically take a lot less (or no) call than other surgical specialties.

Yes, we do have to cut a few toenails. However, that's usually a cash service, my staff does the cutting, and I make $50 a pop.

It's definitely not a perfect profession, but it pays pretty damn good, and it's how I met my wife.
