I have some inlaws that have EBT, they can't get fast food in Louisiana.

Teach them to cook. This causes them to save money

This X 1,000. If we're going to have welfare programs, they should be designed to eliminate the need for welfare, not grow it. As our population expands we'll be faced with an increasing pressure to control growth. This will logically be done in the unproductive segment of the population.
That segment is currently out-pacing the growth of the most productive in our society. We can reverse this trend by paying the chronically poor and unproductive not to have children.
Generational welfare and illegal immigration are two of the greatest threats to our way of life. We must address these insidious social cancers before they cause irreparable harm.

They buy boiled crawfish with it
There's a local seafood place here that succumbed to the pressure to accept welfare as payment. There's a lady that goes in once a month like clockwork. Pulls up in her benz and pays for close to $1000 worth of crawfish and seafood. True story.

It’s tribute. Plain and simple.
We subsidize the breeding of the barbarians at our gates.

I’m a no on food stamps in general.

It'd really help me because I'm on the go a lot and hate spending my welfare on food

Same.
But if I only had a set amount to stretch out the whole month, I could stretch it out better by cooking at home. It wouldn’t be my normal fare, but it would be sustinance.

While I was there, I noticed you're allowed to buy fast food with food stamps. McDonald's, Taco Bell, all of them.
I don't think this is right at all. How is that even legal?
Opinions?
Sounds like the Mitchell Obama healthy diet food pyramid!

I have no problem with EBT for fast food.
I have no problem with EBT or SNAP, at all.
I also identify as a conservative.
Food subsidies for "poor" people are a drop in the bucket in our federal budget, and for the most part, help poor children eat food when their parent( ) isn't willing or capable to do it herself.
You could eliminate all federal food stamps and the federal budget would be reduced by 0.002%.
If you want to fix the fiscal problems with our government, there are literally 2000 other wasteful stupid things to review before you get to food stamps.

Food stamps are for helping the poor, but it's also away to give local businesses.. business.
Instead of providing people with money to buy food, they should provide them with food. People sign up, then every week or two they give the families milk, bread, fruit, veggies, cereal, meats, rice, potatoes. People can go online to put in their request then on certain days they go pick up their food. It would probably be cheaper for the government, because they would be buying at wholesale.. But since the give them money and let people go buy what they want, it really doesn't matter if they buy fast food. Because they are going to grocery stores shopping just as irresponsible.. And then businesses know how to get around things like "not being about to buy hot meals"..

what do you buy with your govt assistance ?

Why do "conservatives" care so much about food stamps? Are you jealous of the poor? We could eliminate every bit of foodstamps and section 8 and it would not make a bit if difference in government spending.

You can get certain types of candy and gum with EBT cards, a lot of gas stations have allowable items marked
It’s fricking ridiculous
