Sure...but I don't count the weight of the bones in chicken or pork either, but it certainly adds to the cost if you're buying by weight.

Buying them live would still be cheaper per pound than buying them shelled and just tails, which is around $10 I'd guess.

The Circle K on Jefferson literally has a sign on next to the candy bars that says they are EBT eligible.

Personally, I think EBT benefits should gradually decrease over time. After X months, the benefits are lost. Get a job, have family help you, or starve.

Not my problem.

You shithead.

I don't understand why there aren't more limits on what these cards can be used on. I saw a well dressed woman get out a nice car last week buy a handful of groceries on her card and then break out cash for her grape blunt and fifth of Kettle One vodka. that abuse makes me even madder b/c she's obviously got a decent source of income that's being hidden from the government.

So anyone who gets Food Stamps who also has a bit of money must be hiding it from the government?

This would all go away if we had work centers where people could go to earn these cards. Want $100 of food dollars? Put in 12 hours of community work, signed off when completed, and you get your card. At that point, it could be WalMart gift card. I don't see the problem. Or the same could be done for career training, X hours completed, X dollars on a gift card.

And by "This would all go away" I mean these threads.

food stamp program should be set up like the WIC program

qualifying families should get vouchers for a set list of products each week or month

they shouldnt get to choose what they purchase IMO

they should get raw chicken, ground beef, maybe a roast or two....rice, beans, milk, cheese, produce, etc.

beliefs like these are why i'll never be elected to office

It is too bad that thinking logically would not get most people into office.

Then they should have made better fricking life decisions.

Embarassing shite. My mom worked a factory job and raised me alone on 350 a week. She had her own house, we never went hungry, and was always able to provide and give more than I needed as a kid.

No child support, no govt. assistance.

What also gets me is the fact that the government will set mandates to determine what kids will eat in school and at the same time, not set up regulation for what is allowed with food stamps. Nobody will ever be able to explain to me how our current system of welfare, food stamps, etc is working to fix the problem of poverty.
