As they and their parents promised, the boys have entered a Buddist Monastery for nine days as novices to honor the dead Seal and to give thanks for their resuce.
Good, clear pictures of the preparation for and the entry. Well explained and a video as well. The formal ceremony was streamed live on Facebook. (old and new )
The coach, who had been a novice for many years in his teens, is becoming a monk.

i support. a nice way for them to always remember the importance of what happened and how fortunate they are to be alive.
here in the US the parents would be pussies and scream about the kids being 'forced' to do this.

Buddhism is one of those religions that really seems to do it right all the way through. It seems like it has overwhelming humility and compassion and doesn't use itself for any kind of agenda other than spiritual enlightenment. It's hard not to respect them.

yeah it would. the lawsuits against 'forced head shaving' would already be underway.

Disgusting how these kids are having religion forced down their throats!

Not to mention the lawsuits against the coach, the park service for leaving the dangerous cave open, and who knows who else. Then the gofundme crap to pay for celebrations and the stress counselling for every "family" member that knew of the kids.
