Folks not receiving preventative care at the moment.

How big of a concern is this? A huge part of health (especially for the elderly) is preventive care, finding things before they become a big issue, etc. Preventive care also reduces the cost of healthcare overall because people are able to nip things in the bud that would end up being high cost problems later. I am assuming that many are not getting regular check ups and test that they would normally do or receive. How much of an issue will this cause us down the line?

Just add this to the long list of stupid decisions our society demanded for.

My 93 year old grandmother had 3 routine check-up appointments scheduled for mid-March and April, and they were all cancelled.
Pretty soon we’ll be able to add the increased number of deaths resulting from routine medical procedures being cancelled as yet another reason this is all so ridiculous.

I think the bigger issue is all the fat fricks who are demanding everyone put their lives on hold indefinitely to keep them from getting deathly ill are doing nothing to help their situations as they stuff their fat faces all day long.

I'm missing a check up. I'm healthy, so missing check up more dangerous than Corona.

If it saves just one Covid life, it's worth it to have ten other people die from non-Covid reasons.

Hell, there are people missing chemo treatments.

We all stuck at home for prevention. We are all receiving preventative care at the moment.

I have a tooth that's going to need a crown if I don't get this thing filled.
I like the dentist. Missed my cleaning.

Great post, and really the question behind how far we go with these measures. What saves the most lives overall? Also Bama fan I see, I think Tua will do well in the league, unbelievable accuracy, felt like they could score at any moment with him. Burrow is better though.

I know it’s not the same, but a lot of doctors are doing phone calls and tele visits.

What states have deemed them non-essential? My Mom just went to her first oncology appointment last week (granted she had to receive that news alone, we couldn’t be there due to restrictions). And has already started her chemo.

Brother is a PCP and said they are not seeing pt's any longer, only doing video visits. How many of these elderly patients are realistically going to go through the hassle of setting all this up? Said there are so many of his patients that were barely hanging on to begin with, this will probably push them over the edge if they don't get into the doctor's offices for check ups, etc.
