You'd rather just on engine?

Some twin engine planes performance are like single engine planes with twice the chance of engine failure.

I hope this doesn’t turn into one of those weird threads where the next day you look back and go...

“Wow, he even created a thread talking about how scared he was...”

Creepy.

So they land and we’re in the little lobby area and the pilot is handling tie down service and whatnot. The person at the desk is like okay, tie down is $25 but we wave it if you fill up with fuel... This motherfricker ponders it. I assume he’s doing the math and he goes, nah I think we’ll make it back with what we’ve got on... Son of a bitch. Top it off. Take the guess work out of it.

Its not like a car, there is a maximum takeoff weight, the pilot could have been calculating if he could safely top off the fuel with the number of people you had in the plane, and still be under maximum gross weight. In some cases if the seats in the plane are full, the fuel tanks better not be.

Would not have been any different. 6 passenger plane with 3 people on it left Mississippi full of fuel. Same people that flew in were going to leave two days later with the same luggage... He was calculating to see if the price of a top off in Birmingham would be more than the price of fuel at home + tie down fee.

It was just an odd time to pinch pennies.

You do realize that if you have people and bags you only have a limited total amount of weight you can lift, and that weight includes fuel. If you over fill the fuel you will either not take off or crash right after takeoff for being too heavy. I would venture to say you have NEVER been on a plane with fully topped off fuel tanks. Airlines Never use full fuel, they fill up based on the flight and the amount of weight the plane is carrying in passengers and bags. Same with small planes. The notion of fully topped off fuel tanks does not translate the same as it does in a car.

If I ever won the lottery, I would definitely take up flying.

And, THIS (Wiki) is the jet I would buy -- it comes with its own parachute. JUST IN CASE!

As of 3/11/2019, 400 lives were saved as a result of the parachute system.

Lineboys are not fans because they scream on the ground. PT6s do not. But they're no louder in the air and more fuel efficient than a PT6.

if true that should say something about the (un)reliabilty of that little POS, don't know how many seats it has but let's say two, and they are occupied, 200 chute deployments? that's worse odds than the space shuttle, in almost 28,000 hours of flying jets you want to guess how many times I've had to hit the silk? zeeero! no thanks

That's better than NO performance, no matter what your friend says. Gives you an chance. No engine makes you a glider

The plane is between 35 and 45 years old. Might be time to upgrade. Just saying. Take the whole 2mg Z-Bar.

The parachute system is installed on multiple makes and models of aircraft. Not on a single brand.
