I lived in orlando as a single guy from 96-98. It was easy pickins pulling tourist chicks from the theme park night life scene. I can only imagine how much better it is now with Tinder.
I'd live in ORL or MIA in a heartbeat.

If I was a true OT baller, Florida hands down, no contest.
It's almost a toss up for me in my situation though. Probably choose Florida due to family there and I would much rather work for FPL or Duke over anything in deregulated Texas. Plus nicer beaches and such in Florida.

Florida -
East Coast (Atlantic side) is overrun by uptight urban Easterners (NY, NJ, etc.). You like that Yankee vibe, you'll like the East Coast. And Cubans, Puerto Ricans, and other Latin/Carrib tribes.
West Coast (below the Panhandle) is populated by hordes of Big Ten fans - retired (and old) snowbirds from Canada, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin. Plus increasing numbers of people from "Up East" looking for bargain real estate. Plenty of Mexicans, Europeans, Brits, Haitians. Better seafood cuisine along the Panhandle. The Midwesterners don't like a lot of seafood, other than grouper, Mahi Mahi, snapper, rainbow trout, and salmon. Boiled shellfish (shrimp, crabs, etc.) no - steamed in Old Bay seasoning. And fried stuff is not all that good when compared to Louisiana style.
Rare to find a generations-deep native Floridian along the lower West coast. Southern-born people also rare. Prevailing accent is Midwestern twang.
But great places to live along the West Coast include Tampa/St. Pete, Bradenton, Sarasota, Osprey, Venice, Port Charlotte.
All that being said, the only Southern-accented Florida populations are found inland along the lower Peninsula
and the Panhandle.
Is Florida better than Texas? Depends on what you're looking for. We've lived in FL since 2006. We are moving to Texas by end of summer, near Ft. Worth.
