New York is doing well right now because a large percentage of their most vunerable population (people over 70 with weak immune systems) already died because of their policies.

Lol yes for whatever reason I thought I read NYC alone has a population of 21mil, but that must be NYC Metro area including parts of NJ & CT.

Yeah, it's too early for anyone to proclaim they're beaten this.
However, it makes absolutely no sense to compare the places that were blindsided in February - March to ones facing surges now in terms of death rate.
Seems 1/5 of the Northeast was infected with it while people were still saying it wasn't even here and we had no testing capacity to even know and many people couldn't even find masks ect.
That meant older/at-risk folks weren't taking any of the same precautions many are now, everywhere.
Also, our health care system is not completely useless and has gotten better at limiting deaths (not even considering the possibility that the mutations have made it a bit less deadly).

Where have you been? No income tax, those Northeasterners are fleeing to here. They may keep a home back north but spend half the year here.
