Glad you finally showed up, tried to contact you a couple of months ago. Went to pilot recruitment right after our last exchange and told them where you’re at. They said, emphatically, tell him to get his arse in the system, YESTERDAY!!!

Well, in that case, I will go knock it out during my RnR time in a couple months. Wish I could go sooner but the global hegemon are out working.

Still kind of baffled that we have a young IP in the squadron with his 1500 hours that still hasn’t gotten an interview. He’s on leave from the regionals right now though.

Have a medical condition that might prohibit me from obtaining a class III but still would like to fly. I figured a Cessna 152 would be considered light sport but it is still to heavy.

C152 does not qualify as a light sport aircraft, the only plane made by Cessna that does is the 162 Skycatcher.

A current list of planes that meet LSA requirements can be found in the Excel file available on this site.

At this point don’t worry about anybody else but you! You can start the wheels turning by going on line and getting the app into the system, Next step you can do from where you’re at as it is Skype type of interview. You’ve got the world by the balls right now, don’t stop until you have both worlds by the balls. Cannot overstate the importance of a seniority number. Just go for the big three, screw SW and all of the commuters, go straight to the big leagues. Get on this little bro!,

Y’all let me know when you get rid of that ridiculous degree requirement. Please and thank you.

Hey man, I’ve told you a few times about that. You put your name in the hat, let them tell you no. Do it. Demand is super high right now. Supply? Not so much.

It ha seven said before, but buy the book, get in mzeroa and watch the videos and do the written before you ever walk in the door. If you start flying, all you will want to do is fly and never get to the ground school part.

A ppl in Louisiana is pretty useless unless you just want to take short hops or stay in the pattern. We just have too much weather that would restrict you (cloud clearance) without the instrument rating. He’ll just staying below the clouds these days is terrible. So hot and bumpy.

But say I were interested. Do you think I should go to one of those interview prep services?

No there’s plenty of info online. You know pilots, as soon as they go through it they share the gouge.

I just started reading Cockpit to Cockpit. I’ve got one more year left of my initial commitment and plan on jumping ship. Hopefully the hiring continues.

Geez. Nauseous thing to think about. I probably spend $15k-$20k per year scuba diving. Could have probably retired early with what I’ve spent over the years in travel, equipment, etc

I know insurance rates go up quite a bit if you’re using a plane for instruction. But is that just if you’re charging for instruction in it?

If it’s your plane, you can have a CFI give you lessons. Since you’ll have the requirement to fly with an instructor at all times, the rates are pretty cheap. My “student Pilot” insurance in a plane I owned was a $30k hull policy with $1MM liability insurance for $700/yr.

It's fun just to go rent a c172 for the day and sight see.
I'd say it's a much more fun hobby than most others.
