Many airlines are retiring them but not British airways. Actually twice, last week and then return leg. They still use it on many routes. . The greatest plane ever built. Never felt safer. It’s better than the 787.

Better than that 777 thing. Hell they even let OTers fly those things.

Subtle “I have a passport” brag.

Is hard to believe that this legend has only about a decade left flying the skies.

The 747 is still dominating the cargo market.

Don’t talk to me if you don’t have Privium.

BA is retiring them, just at a slower pace then say..Qantas or Lufthansa. Lufthansa will continue to fly the new 748 for a long time.

British airways always has the most outdated planes. Their fleet blows compared to their competitors.

I remember being a kid always hoping to fly on a “jumbo jet.” Didn’t get to finally do it until I was 23. Will probably be the only time I’ll ever get to.

I'm 40 and have been flying most of my life and have never flown on a 747. Always wanted to.

Ive only flown on them twice. Once on a military charter to Iraq from California so you can imagine how nice that one was on the inside. The other was just a few months from Amsterdam to Nairobi on KLM. It’s a cool plane for sure but the interior was definitely dated. And I was slumming it in coach.

Brand new -8’s are rolling off the line monthly. The 74 will be around a long time.

Maybe this board needs a 747tiger.

Freighter versions only. All the passenger frames have been delivered, only 36 worldwide. UPS and Atlas Air are the only American companies that operate either version.

Thought Kalitta flew them as well.

Flew one with Lufthansa to Italy last summer. Seemed like every other plane was a 747 at the Frankfurt airport.
Currently looking to book business upstairs in one to Europe next year, just not having much luck finding the perfect flight right now. Backup option is upstairs business on an A380, and if that doesn’t work I’ll slum it on business with Air Canada or Swiss Airlines on a 777.

The Queen of the Skies.
ETA: During medical school, because I met a dutch girl that was doing an internship in hotel management in SXM. After she went back to Holland, I flew on the KLM 747 to Amsterdam from SXM and back twice to go see her (to see her even though it probably would have just been easier and cheaper to hire a hooker for the weekend) and get away from the island. I was comfortable enough to study or sleep with ease, even though I was slumming it in coach.
Watching the KLM 747 buzz Maho Beach on landing was amazing no matter how many times I saw it and it always made my sphincter pucker if I was under it.
