CPAP. It’s like turning on a light switch.

Most people with sleep apnea don’t realize how bad off they were before until they try it for a night.

I’ve got a RESMED Airsense10

My wife was always elbowing me b/c of my snoring. We both were having bad nights of sleep. I had an overnight study and as it turns out I am certainly a mouth breather but the ENT says I have severe obstruction I. My nasal area ( broken nose x3). My events during the atuidy were 16/hour and while none were of the complete obstruction they were there

I have a full mask; I look like Bane. It took around 3 weeks to get used to it and during the transition it sucked. Now it’s no issue at all.

I just checked my report for AHI and it’s only a .24 events/hour with is terrific. The ONLY issue is when the hose has aged enough it won’t stay on the mask and when it detaches it sounds like a jet engine. I feel so much more rested now.

maybe you need new supplies? My doctor told me if my apnea got better or worse say due to weight lose or whatever that the autopap technology will adjust on its own to what your needs are. Talk to company that supplied the machine.

Thanks!

Lots of used machines on Craigs list. span of output is 0-20 inches of water. much above 14-15 setting will blow the mask off face, much below 10 inch is not useful, so pick a setting. I love my Cpap for the last 10 years
This is absolutely, horrible advice!

First of all, air pressure for CPAP is measure in cmH20, not inches or psi.

Secondly, pressure needs vary from person to person. Too little, CPAP does no good. Too much, and you will get kicked into central sleep apnea and your nervous system will stop you from breathing, instead of the obstruction.

I've seen people with mild/moderate sleep apnea treat with pressures of 15cmh20, and severe with 8cmH20.

If you don't know what your pressure needs to be, get an autopap and make the pressure range very wide. Do not guess at what you need.

Dreamstations have been recalled

I posted about this a month or so ago.

Their recommendation is to STOP using it, but there is no timetable established for fixing the issue of the filters, so you could literally go a year before something is done. At least go register for the recall.

I tried to quit using it for a few nights, but felt like shite in the morning, so I went back to using it.

I've had mine for 2 years or so.

Fixed by using a CPAP:

1. Sleep better, more rested
2. Don't get up at 3 AM to use the bathroom
3. No sweating while sleeping, drenching the sheets
4. Allegedly improves heart condition, although I can't tell you directly how it has improved

I was diagnosed and I tried every type of mask and just couldn't adjust to it. I'm going to be having a device installed called Inspire in the next few weeks. It goes in your chest and has a wire that runs up to your throat. 30 minutes before sleep, you have a remote that you buy against the device in your chest and hit a button. Once you fall asleep, the device detected your airway closing and sends a signal up the wire to your air canal and shocks the muscles to make your airway expand again. Kind of nervous about it, but I've heard great stories about it. I'll report back and let y'all know how it comes out

is your mask super tight? My machine has a mask tester function. I have to put my mask so tight for it to pass the test. It's uncomfortable

called Inspire
I wanted to do this....I was told 30k and I had to pay 6k and insurance would cover 24k...every 17 yrs you have to replace it and it's over 10k to replace. Expensive but yeah ,when I retire I may go this route.

Just the generator/battery has to be replaced. Kind of like a pacemaker battery.still expensive like you mention.

I'll be surprised though if people get 17 years out it. Estimated change out is every 10-12 years. Guess we'll see.

Some ENTs do them, but you'll find more dentists who do them since they already have the materials to do the impression/make molds etc.

Again though for your ahi there's a very slim chance that a standadd oral appliance alone would be sufficient for treatment of your severity of sleep apnea.

I used an expansion appliance, it cut my AHI from 25 to around five. My jaw got slightly wider, but my airway also grew broader.

I was actually headed in to do a consult for Inspire when the ENT told me I'd be better off with the tonsils being removed and deviated septum (as well as turbinations inside) fixed instead.

Well aware, but I have no replacement from my provider yet and was advised to continue using it if I have no problems. I've already registered for the recall.

I thought I would get a response from the Cpap approved distribution sales force by subbing cm water with inches of water. Craigs list is still a good source for folks that cannot afford the Cadillac service. Better to try than do nothing.

Try not to get rolled, like a drunk in a gutter, on your next Craigslist transaction. Meanwhile, some here do this shite for a living and have forgot more about it, than you'll ever know.

Did you personally register online AND whoever you got your machine from, submitted your info also? Those two things are VERY important. You can do one or the other, but if you do both, your replacement machine will arrive MONTHS sooner.

I'm currently knee-deep in this shite-show.
