Then I must be burning much more calories in a day then I realize.
Yard work, crossfit, walk the dog at least a mile every night, usually have to walk a bit from our business for parking a few times a day. 4k just seems high, but then again I never know what I'm burning off.

The thing is, these probably burn way fewer calories than you might think.

All things included with doing crossfit? And there are several days where I run another 2 miles or so.

You have to consider, how long are doing crossfit for? How long does it take you to run 2 miles? I'm guessing a couple hours +/- for those two things combined. OK, so that's two hours per day (IF you do them every single day). Plus other random things, but it sounds like you have a desk job? So even if you're doing 3 hours of moderate to intense activity everyday, there's still 21 other hours in the day and what are you doing with them?
If you have a desk job, you're at a huge disadvantage if you're just trying to burn calories. That's 8-9 hours a day where you're just doing nothing, aside from maybe an hour at lunch or something.

I've found my phone and fitbit to be fairly similar. On vacation we averaged 30k steps a day on both devices. This was with my phone in my back pocket as we walked around to see the sights.

I am a very active person, and my average burn is about 3500 / day.

Solid points.
Crossfit is about an hour a day, sometimes a little more. But I leave sweating my arse off each time. Cardio + walking the dog probably gives me over 2 hours of being active each day.
How many calories burnt from jacking off?
Let's say it's 2-3 times a day. 5-10 min each jerk session. Let's go with 7.5 minutes times 3. So 22.5 min a day. Let's say I make sex to a woman (let's say once a month at around 45 seconds)
We also have to take sleeping into consideration here.
So per day averages:
7 hours of sleep.
2-3 hours of activity (working out/cardio)
22.5 minutes of masturbation
1.5 Seconds of sex
8 hours at a desk/computer
I suppose I need a fitbit to fill in with this spare time. I am sold.

I'm pretty sure the FitBit calories burned total includes the daily average. Which is around 1500. So 4000 burned requires you to be fairly active. For reference, 30 minutes at a moderate pace on an elliptical is about 320 calories, 30 minutes running at 8min/mile pace is about 500.
