Probably say something about hanging on his nuts even though I haven't posted to him in ages.

You're being emotional. It's ok. Your period should only last a few days.

That isn’t what I said.

I had summer jobs starting at like 13 (working for my Dads construction company) and my parents bought my first vehicle.

Are you a Darth alter?

Started work at a grocery store in summer 2000 bw fresh & soph year. Worked for a year to save for down payment. Paycheck went into savings. Tips were fun money.

Worked fri night, sat morn, most of sun. Still had plenty of time for fun/friends/girls/study.

Purchased 1998 mitsubishi galant just before start of junior year. Saved enough that i got my car note down to 180/mo. $14000 vehicle.

Dad cosigned so i got a great rate. I paid extra each month in an effort to pay it off. Dad paid for insurance bc it didnt make sense for 18 yr old to pay 300/mo on my own.

Summer before college i worked in a rice mill for better money. 120 degrees for 10 hours a day.

Paid car off before first semester at LSU in fall 2003.

Giving your kid a car precludes having a summer job? That's wild.

I guess that works if you want a $2,700 car

I got my daughter a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Limited. Automatic with 41K original miles on it. She loves it and so do I when I get to drive it.

You’re the reason why adults can’t function like adults these days.

There are plenty of driveable cars for $2700. Learning to live within your means and understanding that the finer things take time and savings is a good lesson. Teaching your 16 year old to keep up with the Joneses by over extending his finances isn’t a good thing.

because, as I’ve said multiple times in this thread, I think there are easier ways to teach a kid the same responsibilities without putting that much financial stress on a 16 year old

kids have the rest of their lives to stress finances

All you’re doing is ensuring when the stress of finances are real, it will be the first time they’ve ever had to deal with it.

Your line of reasoning is why so many adults today can’t function as adults.

Just so we are clear on why adults can’t function as adults

Correct. Man or woman.

Or do you think there’s a spectrum of genders?
