We had a baseball game that day. We were expecting the boom in the middle of the game. Got caught up in the game and didn't realize the boom never happened until after it was over. Got home and saw the news.

I remember waking up early to watch the news coverage and watch it pass over Louisiana. This was the first time I had the opportunity and knew about it.

I remember hearing the sound of the shuttle re-entering the atmosphere. It sounded like a wreck on the nearby interstate.

Very sad. Our community was touched personally as Captain Brown was the son of an Arlington County Circuit Judge. May they all R.I.P.

How did they know the Challenger astronauts had dandruff?

Normally I have a sense of humor, but I've never found this funny.
Since they were likely still alive, the plunge into the ocean must've felt like an eternity.

So sad.

I have some friends that were fishing at Toledo Bend and could hear small bits of debris landing in the water (so they say)

More than likely they were hearing the clapping of wings from cinnamon teal getting up off the water.

They were everywhere that year!

So easy to tell who was around at the time of the Challenger disaster and who the overly sensitive snowflake pussies are.

Yeah the debris field was on our weather radar in Shreveport. I don't think we could see it outside but I can't remember. I was like 13 and I had just woken up.

The previous flight had the first plumber in space, and who could forget the first used car salesman in space.
