So it has nothing to do with the fact Mother’s Day is tomorrow?

Yeah it probably had everything to do with that. Costco was crowded as hell this afternoon and half of the people in line had steaks, flowers, wine etc.

It’s usually bad on Saturdays - I’ve been going on Mondays or Tuesdays instead

And I can only imaging what it would be like today

Lakeside’s enduring success is 90% a result of its location .

I am ancient enough to remember going to the grand opening of The Esplanade Mall in Kenner when it was new and beautiful.. now it’s a dump… also, even before that- i used to live very near to the Lake Forest Plaza in The East, which was failing for decades and now has been razed…. With Lakeside , you’re 10 min from the City but also only 30 min from the Northshore… Veterans & Causeway is a gold mine .

We usually go on Saturday and although it's crowded I'm usually never more than 3rd in line and it's pretty quick. Today I was about #10 in line.

Now there’s self- checkout at Costco. At least it somewhat alleviates congestion at the regular checkout lines. There’s a total of 4 Costco’s in relative close proximity for me to choose from, but yeah, weekends are still crowded AF. I usually fill up the gas tank on the way out, and that’s still easily a 30+ min wait. Still saving around .40/gal from regular gas station rates.

In the 10+ yrs ive been a member of Costco, ive never once set foot in one on a weekend… Best time to go is between 9-11am on a weekday, get whatever i need with minimal lines, even in the line for gas at that time im usually only the 2nd or 3rd car in line.. and on my way out if i want an early lunch, i like to avail myself of their excellent pizza, which is only $3 for two huge slices, highly recommend .

2 slices of their pizza is a lot of food. That's like half of a large pizza

Costco here is pretty efficient. Even if you go on Saturday at 10am it's rare to wait more than 5 minutes in line in my experience.

Are you talking about the one in Baton Rouge?

Bc on Saturdays it takes me 5 minutes to walk to the back of the line to get into line to check out

Not that I’m aware of, that is a nice feature of Sam’s

Yep. Today was the longest I've ever waited in line. Maybe 10 minutes

I'll never not use it in Sam's ever again, there is usually one checkout lane with a cashier open and 7 self-checkouts. People seem to instantly drop 50 IQ points whenever they have to use a self-checkout regardless of the store.

And special memories of a 13 year old kid in 1985-86 playing arcade at the entrance. Anybody remember that hole in the wall arcade space? Loved playing Punch Out there. 25c per game and used to go with $2 for the entire afternoon.

Mother's day tomorrow.
