My folks never bought me toys. I had to play with what I was born with. Still do 62 years later.

I know I’m late to the game but I used to play with these a lot. I’ve never seen them anywhere.

Yep,I was lucky enough to grow up in a neighborhood with a lot of kids.We played baseball, football and shot slingshots and such.

We used our imagination back then when playing army and we always won.

I really my wife bought that for my kid.
The GI joe boat thing was huge.
I think I bought him chopper, Tank, and at time desert vehicle.
He played with it for a year and we sold all that stuff at a garage sale for next to nothing.

That where you look at the wife and you tell her tonight something special for me after she bought that thing.

Yes I bought my kids three green machines. Darn think always broke in the middle between the wheels and the seat.

I was glad when they were old enough to buy them schwin bikes. My wife would not let me go cheap and buy them huffy bikes.

I'm surprised they don't really sell those things anymore. It teaches you fundamentals of electrical circuits, but you don't realize it does as a kid. You're just wanting to have it wired the right way so that the little project you're doing works. It was definitely one of my favorite "uncommon" toys. I'll also add the erector set as well (somebody earlier in the thread brought that up).

I give you “Snoopy’s Dream Machine”. My Dad got me one while away on a business trip in 1982. It took me nearly 13 years of watching and bidding on eBay to get one. I finally got it about five years ago, in pristine condition. I was actually in touch with the original inventor for several months and go the backstory about how the toy came about and the little details behind the sales and distribution. Neat stuff

Here’s mine in action:
