The kid that was tackled by the dad should have DQ’d.
no

That is a highly dangerous and illegal move.
and should have simply been docked points

Dad has a right to be pissed but should have tackled the ref.

in the four seconds the dad took to tackle the kid after the slam, what did the ref do wrong?

He popoed up and then into the ready position BEFORE his father tackled the other wrestler.

What are you watching? He's already back on the ground before the father comes into frame.

You can see the kid fall back to the ground after he tries to stand. It's right behind the ref.

He did not fall back. He got back in the down position. Kid seems like a good sport and was ready to go.

Maybe they think folks deepfaked it to make the dad look bad when in reality he ran right to his son instead of a violent act.

I heard this on the news this morning but wasn't paying much attention. Didn't realize he went after the kid for putting a wrestling move on his kid.. During a wrestling match. What a fricking shite bag.

What was the ref doing? I understand it’s high school but he should have stepped in.

He did. He stepped in and called the illegal hold/throw

And he did not have time to do much more as the father makes contact as he tackles the other wrestler FOUR SECONDS after the actual foul. The ref puts his hands behind his head almost immediately which is the call for illegal hold and then walks toward the wrestler who was slammed.

It was an accidental move, wrestling can be dangerous - are dads running in to tackle football players who accidentally go low or when the runner drops his head and ends up getting a helmet to helmet charge.

Sure, the dad should be concerned for his kid but the kid wasn't even phased. Both stopped at the whistle from the ref and were moving into the next start position.

It was a dangerous move, but no moreso than what happens in a lot of different contact sports.

This would be a better story in context. I doubt any parent who has been around wrestling for any amount of time, would do that over one move. I suspect this guy has a reputation for being dirty and there is more to it than just that one move.

In the pros, outside interference is sanctioned. They need to adopt the pro rule
