As a level headed sane person, I would never have gone as far as he did.

The way the clerk spoke, (monotone and robotic) I suspect he has autism. That would certainly explain his inability to understand the impact of his statement. Not excusing what he said, but that would explain the inability to "read the room", and probably shouldn't be in a "Social" position like a clerk.

After watching that shite show it really does seem it all to be a misunderstanding.
As others have said it seems his joke was about the bag being a Dollar General bag and what would the neighbors think about them shopping at DG, and having nothing to do with the pads themselves.

Nah, that dude was an a-hole. He knew EXACTLY what that dad was saying, he just didn't give a single frick about it.
The dad is also sort of weird for recording and posting that to social media (I assume it was posted somewhere). And if he truly cared he would've stayed long enough to formally complain about that dude instead of abruptly walking out while still filming, making some flippant comment about applying for new jobs as he exits the door.

100% done to get attention. For himself. By bullying a clearly weaker guy, too, who is out there working despite being autistic or whatever.
