This is the exact opposite of what hunters should do obviously. Killing a mother and her cubs is hurting the next generation of bears. The best is to kill the oldest bears that have already had many offspring and spread it's genes.

I don't think bears are even good for eating, are they?

I think it really depends on the bears diet at the time they are harvested.

If they are eating a lot of fish, I’ve heard bear meat is really nasty.

Not as bad if they are eating mostly berries.

These two should be handed over to the PETA people and let those loons deal with them.

Although I wholeheartedly disagree with them killing those bears, and especially the cubs, I'm sorry nurse, but the cuteness factor plays no role in nature.

The biggest predator of bear cubs is........other bears.

I understand. I could possibly see the son and father not realizing it was a mother bear. Son shoots bear and then realizes it is a mother bear and sees the cubs. They were newborn cubs though so not like they could have hurt someone. Couldn't they have alerted forest ranger service at that point of the situation to see if something could be done about the cubs? Especially once they saw the tracking collar on the mother bear?

I just think it takes a pretty cold-blooded person to kill bear cubs or other young mammals.

Naw. You don’t shoot a bear while it’s in its den.

Father and son are all the way wrong. Neither should be allowed to hunt ever again.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm not a hunter so not aware of all the rules.

In general the hunt has to offer some method of escapement to be sporting.

They enjoy killing.. it is what it is.. there is no other understanding needed. Their words state so much about the not getting caught. They knew better and didn't care.

So ridiculous. Certain kind of sick person to do such an act.

but I still want to see the data to get to those figures. Seems like an awfully high number.

I was surprised that the government actually kills animal young in their dens under that program, and call it “denning”.

I’d assume that’s mostly Yotes. Unless they are killing a shite ton of geese to lower bird strikes, I just don’t see how they get to those numbers.
