Quick question, do we have any standard for sources on the OT? We're debating a statistic quoted in some 8th graders term paper.

Obamacare cost us a increase of $500 a month along with loosing a better insurance plan and a increase of $5200 a year deductible.
Pre Obamacare my deductible was 10,000 (which I off set with a HSA) and and a PPO where I could choose my own doctor.
Post Obamacare my deductible is still 10;000 but my HSA is now no longer usable for preventative because over the counter and vitamins are no longer covered (most of that was republican health care reform) while I am now forced to an HMO for health care which is not as good as the PPO. While many blame this on Obamacare, much of this is the high cost of opoid addiction. See the way the law was written and the cost to just Ohio with both ObamaCare and now its Republican replacement.
The problem with opioids (and cost) they take them to the ER (at 5K to 10 K a trip, then they are back in - sometimes the same day or next day - and bang, another big arse charge to the taxpayers. While I am no fan of public executions, I do believe in 3 exceptions....
#1 Serial killers with 100% guilt proven like Manson or Bundy. No sense keeping them alive for 50 years at 120K to 240K per year.
#2 Boss drug dealers like Escobar or Guzman. Appropriate their assets and kill them publicly
#3 Boss white collar criminals like Madoff or some of the executives at a place like Goldman

first of all, tubby, I wasn't addressing you.....unless you're an alter. Chicken!!!!
now, considering you felt the need to spout off, I will humor this with a simple response: you are either 1) full of shite (likely) OR 2) one of the VERY RARE medical anomalies.
See, the issue is enabling folks who could realistically help themselves if they'd be honest about it. Being "big boned" is being fat. If you are not an offensive lineman at the college or pro level, or you are not an endorsed sumo, you are only doing yourself a disservice.
All that said, if you are the 0.01% of thyroid cases, then just keep quiet. You are the acceptable collateral damage in all this fat shaming, tubby.

Dad was in the pros, I had potential but went academics instead. As stated before both grandfathers were professional athletes so genetics were there to work with. That being said I was in an era where coaches would force feed massive calories and greatly altered the eating habits for life of many of my fellow linemen.

I know Tubby personally, he is relatively slim for a guy named Tubby, but we are both AARP fellows.
I may be rare but I do believe genetic predisposition makes unequal from the start so it may not be as cookie cutter as you like.
As for fat shaming, be careful who you randomly shame. Some folks like me may look fat on the outside but are pretty in shape on the inside.
Being fit most of my life means my checkups are good every year. Internally I am probably healthier than many with less weight and much younger. I will say this, being noticeably heavy late in life has been an eye opener to human nature in an age where few things are left to make fun of.
While I do believe more and more folks are letting themselves go, the real shame needs to be placed elsewhere to fix the problem.
If you want to shame somebody, shame the politicians who allow terrible corporate food like pizza and soda to be served in K - 12 public schools.
If you want to shame somebody, shame the corporate food executives at places like McDonalds and Taco Hell to change their recipes and menus to encourage better eating habits
If you want to shame somebody, shame the government for allowing unhealthy food to be purchased with government assistance
If you want to shame somebody, shame Madison Avenue for promoting unhealthy public perceptions of beauty. Not like 350 lbs is healthy for a woman but neither is a 75 lb woman who throws up just to stay thin.
If you want to shame somebody, shame yourself for being so inelastic to not work with better results on positive solutions than the negative reinforcement your message encouragers
If you want to shame somebody, shame the media for getting us to cocoon with electronics that go out and do something outside that actually burns calories in a positive way
Look, you are clearly an *sshole on here, and may be one in real life but I want you to know I am not a "victim" here but a "survivor" who has taken a very real problem and tried to work my way through it the best I can. Most of this means taking a positive approach instead of the negative one you suggest.

As I said, the anomaly and
No need to be careful......they can kill me but they can't eat me.
Pssst: you are way too serious for a board such as this.
ETA: to be clear. I could stand to use quite a few pounds as I am a "husky" former olineman….and while I am relatively muscular, I just don't bullshite myself anymore like I used to.

Ah, just to be fair I have no real ability to detect sarcasm either

Hell we all age, but rare is the one who can do it well. Stress and genetics really take the biggest toll.
I was serious about coaches having us gorge calories tho. Not a big deal when you are young, but not healthy eating habits to develop as you get older.

So you are younger? I am from the play both ways era. Dad was closer to the leather helmet days. His dad was the pre football era and some genuine badass sports.

You seem like a good dude
Forgive me for being an asshat. Was all in good fun.
.....I was a leftover from the earlier pre-BCS days at LSU.

It really says a lot about our society when being fat is looked down upon while "not believing" you were supposed to be born with a cock is celebrated... I look at both the exact same way. Better yall than me and it's not my problem...

It is cool.
Just hard for me to understand the modern era as so much mis communication occurs when it is not face to face. I grew up in the south in an era when manners really were a big deal. I guess it was necessary as traveling north folks always looked down on you.
I am serious tho, we all have to work together and sometimes going negative seems to work in the short run but over time it never seems to be the answer. I will say tho that kids playing ball today are much bigger but what gets me is how much faster they are. Back when the running game was big I could take you down if I could get you in the first 3 steps or so. Now linemen can chase guys down 10 yards or more.
That much more weight and that much more speed, no wonder more kids get hurt these days. Did you make it through your playing days without any major injuries? Hope your time at LSU was good, always liked the school and the people in BR. Had cousins in LA and my great grandparents lived in MS just north of NOLA. My grandfather grew up in Mobile and was big fan of cajun and creole cookin, even if my grandmother would not let him cook it in the house.
