Has absolutely exploded the last 20 years.

Not surprising. Good schools, military economy.

More fun facts:

Charleston is further south than Tuscaloosa.

Columbia is further south than Tupelo.

Greenville is further south than Memphis. In fact, the northern most point of South Carolina is on the same latitude as Memphis.

Since I am abandoning Baton Rouge for Pensacola sometime soon, I checked Florida numbers. Not one city in the negative, and most of the top 20 or so are cities in Florida.

USC has a varsity soccer team and Charleston’s best bbq comes from Texas.

You mean Calhoun? Technically Adairsville, in Gordon County? That's been open for a couple years.

I hoped Fairhope would remain the South's best kept secret. Looks like people discovered it.

Yep. That's where I live. On pace to hit 300,000+ by the 2030 census. Baldwin County is basically a little bit Myrtle Beach and a little bit Hilton Head with a lot of the same Midwesterner retirees minus all the retirees from the Northeast. Lots of people flooding the area from up North but at least it's only Midwesterners flooding in and not as many Northeasterners also moving in like they get in South Carolina

Nah man I get what you’re saying with the stats and shite but SC just doesn’t feel like the Deep South. It’s not the same as Georgia, Bama, Miss and Louisiana.

South Carolina has the same percentage of black population as Alabama.

In fact, slightly higher.

25.4% Alabama
25.6% South Carolina

In case that's what you were inferring.
