I drive from Prairieville to Walker every morning around 6am now that our new office is finished. No one drives in the far right of the 3 lanes AT ALL. When did the common thing to do become merging onto the interstate directly to the left lane? I can drive as fast as I want unimpeded on most mornings in the right hand lane.

People who think they're gonna go fast and breeze in the left lane.

When stubborn, oblivious people refused to get out of the left lane

I drive from BR to Nola every morning. I pass as many people in the right as I do the left. Let lane people think 80 MPH at 5 am in the left lane means you are going fast enough.

I get off on the 310 to head to Luling each morning. Plus I move to Nola in a few weeks.

How so? Because I would normally get over as soon as I see someone behind me that wants to go 95 but before I even get the chance they start flashing the lights?

Fear of getting caught in a "must exit" lane.

Flashing lights is to make sure you see me coming. Have you not seen how 90% of everyone on the road don't pay attention to anything that isn't 5' in front of them?

Unless you're passing, you shouldn't be IN the left lane. If you remain there out of spite because someone's signaling you, you're kind of a butthead.

Hell no. If you are flashing your lights at every car in front of you, I am absolutely not moving over. If I am not paying attention that someone is behind me and they flash, sure I'll be polite. Not if you do it to EVERY car.

I typically go between 85-90 so yes I am passing people 95% of the time. If no one is in the right lane and I see a car coming up on me, yes I get in the right lane. More times then not if no one is in the right lane, I drive there until I come upon a slow car.

From the Louisiana OMV guide:
quote:

Stay in the right-hand lane unless overtaking and passing, making an exit to the left, or letting another vehicle enter. However, you may drive in any lane of an interstate having three or more lanes in one direction with each lane having a specific function. The right hand lane is used for exiting and entering. The middle is often used as the “travel” lane and the far left lane is for passing.
