$10.00 is norm what general labor pays out. It suck but that seems to be the going rate.

I let them live in a shed on the back of the property. We even have an agreement that I’ll allow them to pick the garden and can keep 10% of the haul..... Got the idea from my paw paw

And who supervises this activity to ensure they only keep 10%?

regardless I am not overpaying for a manual labor job. I have been quoted like $150 for 1 1/2 hours of yard work, pulling weeds, etc. I am not paying manual labor yard work $100 an hour.

You should have done crap like that during the winter when all the landscapers were sitting on their arse. If you want quality work this time of year, you are paying a premium and alot of the pro’s won’t even show up for less than a full day’s work with a two man crew.

Depends on if it is a one time deal or you want them to come back. You have toniver paying you want them to come when you call. I didn’t figure out the hourly, but I’m paying my guy (+2 helpers) $400 to get my beds in shape and to put down straw for the season. I typically throw him $100/month to keep them fresh all year.

Ask them if they mind if you pay them in change.

$1.00 less than what you would do it for on your own. I still wouldn't pay anyone $30 to cut my yard or do my yard work. I am too cheap and I actually like doing it.

$12-15/hr, $10/-12 if you can recruit some neighborhood teenagers to work their weekends.

no flat rate upfront. Give a pay range and what you expect then pay based on performance.
