Jpay. Prisoners have access now to their own email system and social media access, but they generally have to pay for it. For jpay emails it's like 20 emails for $6 or something like that, which seems like nothing, but some of these guys are earning less than .50 per hour that they put in work, so they depend on outside people putting money in their accounts.

I put $20 on one of my homeboys commissary every few months. He's in forest county on some dope charges. Anyone that has Facebook access I wouldn't frick with, it's bullshite. People locked up aren't given social media access

I don't know if it's been suggested, but before I'd accept his request, I'd call the prison and just ask them what's up. They'll tell you if that inmate has internet/Facebook access or if it is some scam.
Get the info straight from the horse's mouth.
And if it is all cool; hell, I'd accept. The worst that could happen would be he hit you up for money and you could always just unfriend him. (I would double check my privacy settings first - make sure things like your home address and cell phone number isn't listed.)
