Did you know in the Lariat and above they pipe in V8 noise through the speakers when you accelerate hard?
This. This right here is why the 5.0 is the only one I'd buy.
I want the lower stressed, simpler engine.

I havent owned the 3.5 but I do have a 5.0 and have ridden in both and the truth is it doesn’t make a frick unless you need to pull shite on a regular basis
This will probably get downvoted to hell but idk where in the hell we got the idea that trucks needed to be Corvettes. Unless you are consistently pulling stuff, at which point you should prolly get a 3/4 Ton anyways, or you are for some strange reason drag racing in it then who gives a frick?

3.5 owner here, avg 24.5 hwy.
I have a 3.5 and get no where near this
Yeah no shite... but I'm pushing an Expedition EL. 17.5 mph. I'd imagine the much lighter F150 could get more

right at 100k miles on my 5.0 and the only thing i have had to change other than the oil was a $5 o ring on one of the coolant lines due to a leak.

2011 F-150 5.0 121k miles and not one issue with the engine!
Now other things in the F-150 that is another story..

3.5 ecoboost is the best gas engine i've ever owned. the only bad thing is the loud arse jet engine fan.
I have a 3.5 Eco-boost and love the engine. My main complaint is the clunky 10 speed automatic in normal mode, I have to put it in sport mode to help eliminate this. Can Ford re-calibrate the shift settings to eliminate the clunks in normal shift mode?

Yes. As I drove my brand new Lariat FX4, at times it felt like it was shifting wrong gears causing a jerk as I accelerated. It was subtle at times but every now and again I'd give it gas and it was slow to respond or when it did respond it caused a more than normal hard shift. Just the whole shifting and timing felt off. After a few thousand miles I got a malfunction light on the engine. The code was for transmission fault or something. Long story short, they re-flashed the transmission part of the computer and it was a night and day difference. At almost 30k miles and haven't had an issue since and the shifting is so much smoother.

25mpg doesn’t mean much when the fuel is so much more expensive
When you put it to pen and paper there is about $.03 per mile advantage for the diesel 150. I'm driving about 40k per year so I'm saving about $1200 per year

Just get a F250 with the 6.7, you will have plenty of power!

I test drove both in June. The 5.0 rode better (I assume the weight helped), and it accelerated just fine. The V6 was bumpy as hell to me.
I bought a 2018 5.0. It hasn't used any oil yet in 3K miles...

2013 5.0 3.55 gears, 4x4 33" KO2 tires
149,900 Miles
15.9 mpg lifetime
10-11 mpg pulling 22' bay boat 50-60 mph
15-17 mpg between 70-78 mph
Motor has been solid. Since I bought it i've had something going out every 20k miles. 4x4 switch, steering wheel buttons, cat converter, rear window defroster, oil pan gasket, coolant hoses/0-rings. All cheaper to fix than get a new one but i hope i can make it to 200k miles before something major gives out

I'd go 2.7 or 5.0. I don't see the point of the 3.5 any longer. It doesn't get any better mileage than the 5.0, and the 2.7 makes almost the same power and DOES get better mileage. I have the 5.0, but doing it over again I'd go 2.7. It feels torquier than the 5.0 down low, which I prefer for city driving.
