"Simulated" being the operative word. Of course, this was put out by pro-35 supporters... Skewed any?

They were F-15E's, not F-15C's. This is a non-story.

It actually is not. They are comparing aircraft with similar roles here.

Oh, well then I guess they never expect the 35 to go up against a true fighter aircraft.

My buddy works on F-15's at the Belle Chasse NASJRB and said the F-15s kicked the F-22's arse in dogfights.

Well this is a load of shite. I was a crew chief on the F-15C. Stationed at Eglin and Nellis.

In the 6 years at my unit, I only recalled 1 F-15C getting a kill.

But again, that was just my unit. I switched to Cyber Surety after 6 years and then got out after 9.

Take it for what its worth.

I remember listening to some old hack in the Navy in september of 87 about how the F4 was so much better than the tomcat.....

not two days later a tomcat splashed an f4 right before our eyes

Dog fighting is for an older type of war. Hints the reason for the name fighter/interceptor. Fighters were utilized to mainly to keep the bombers from laying waste to your support bases, and supply facilities. The ground support aspect came about as a byproduct, and the glorious dogfighting came about to kill off the enemy interceptors trying to destroy your bombers.

Fast forward 70 years, and things are totally different. Now you have drones, SAMs, and advanced warning systems in place to handle much of that threat. Planes like the F-22 and F-35 are designed to infiltrate enemy airspace undetected, destroy targets from a distance. Also known as fire and forget. Why put your 100+million dollar aircraft in harms way when it has the ability to destroy the enemy from distance without being detected? Dogfighting is in the old school, and is now the last resort for our Air Force.

Why waste a 100million dollar plane(and moreover an even more valuable pilot) when a SAM or drone can be as effective? Missles, radar, drone, and satellite technology has killed off the need for dogfighting unless as a last resort.

Dogfighting isn't done for, sir. What happens when those far off missiles/drones are defeated (electronically). Its already been proven that stealth isn't stealth anymore except against third world countries. Radar can be dealt with. So what happens then?
