I think that’s normal when viewing objects that far away. I’ve had the same experience numerous times and my eyesight is pretty good

As a kid, I could see the whole night sky...

Doubt you could. You may have thought you were but there is a “blind spot” in every normal eye at night or limited light. You probably never noticed it until tonight. Try staring at an airplane at night and then look slightly off and you will see the plane or any other object much clearer.

Well, did a cloud move and block your view?

See the brown area to the side near the back of the eye? In the brackets. Blindspot caused by the macula. In every eye of every person, location can vary slightly.

Bruh....
The macula is your fine vision, your 20/20 vision.
The optic nerve is your blind spot.
Hold your hand out at arms length with only thumb and pinky extended. Stare at your thumb (that is your foveal fixation, the fovea is the center of the macula) and your pinky will disappear (your blindspot caused by your optic nerve)

Light pollution dude. I visit “dark sky” areas often. The difference is absolutely amazing.

Thanks for clearing that up, FAP SAM.

Come on, man. That vision phenomenon is known to everybody that's gone through military training.
