The skies over Baton Rouge were lit up early Wednesday morning as a fire burned at ExxonMobil. The fire at the facility on Scenic Highway is sending large flames and plumes of smoke into the air. It started around 2:30 a.m. A spokeswoman for ExxonMobil said it is being handled internally and there are no reported injuries.

Terrorist attack, three shootings, and now Exxon is on fire all within 24 hours. Damn.

From what I hear nobody hurt. Luckily it happened at 3:00 am when nobody would normally be in the unit.

I could see it from across the river. It was large and burned for about an hour. They were lucky to not have any injuries.

This is the actual name of the highway through the plants?

No. The refinery main gate is located on Scenic Highway

It is near the plants and Scenic Highway is not scenic, that's for sure.

You mean to tell me an uncontrolled fire in a refinery wasn't planned, well no chit.

In other words what the spokes person said....

1) this wasn't planned
2) handled internally
3) no one was hurt

Now go back to bed because there is nothing to see here.

But Exxon is the safety leader. They need to up their game.

Glad no one was hurt.

Dude, you have no idea the steps we are taking to 'up the game.'

I was talking about the contractors. That's pretty much a given for the operators.
