So it is not ok for a baseball, basketball, or football game to go on without fans> but it is ok for class to continue and to have people from all walks of life just walking around campus.800 people in the COX auditorium is fine but 100 people in alexbox is not?

makes 0 sense

Makes no sense that someone on a college sports board can’t spell or string together a couple of coherent sentences.

Just about every large campus is either shutting down or considering shutting down .

I feel like the cancellation of all SEC sports is a precursor to canceling/moving to online classes now. Students, enjoy your time “off”.

It’s not just schools.

If they’re so worried about sports events even without spectators present then why are every day type things still allowed to happen? Why are grocery stores open? Why movie theaters?

Theoretically they could shut it down but I don’t see it happening.

The real question is will my daycare close without me working from home? Wife is a nurse(no pics) and I work in power distribution. We wont be able to "work from home." Guess they will be shipped to the grandparents farm

Canceling all sports event but keeping everything else up and running in society seems pretty half-assed to me. Makes no logical sense why shopping centers are open

For starters, these people in classes are mostly staying in a small area (they live in the same town, city, metro, etc). These sporting events involve people from different cities/states/countries. If a few people in one class speed the virus around their city, it sucks but you can at least hope to contain it within that area. If a player from Florida spreads it to a player from Ohio, then that person spreads it at the airport and takes it back to his city.

The SEC is making those calls for sports not the schools.
