Looking to get ankle surgery with Dr.Ogden at Southern Orthopedic. Ligament reconstruction and ankle arthroscopy with microfracture because I have talar OCD? Not looking forward to being non weight baring for 4-6 weeks. Looking for comments from people who had ankle surgery with Dr. Ogden or another ankle doctor in the city that they had a positive surgery with

Dr. Field Ogden is the man. Good luck with your procedure

Do not have any personal experiences with his work, but Dr. Ogden is very well regarded within the medical community in Nola

Any relations to the family that started the Ogden museum.

I had an OCD in the joint between the talus and navicular. I had fusion surgery of that joInt in 2009. Field Ogden did the surgery.
Unfortunately, I had some problems. I developed a DVT after the surgery which was quite large (clotted from my mid thigh down to my ankle). I think I went back to work too soon. I was in crutches and driving my car and I think the strain of not keeping my leg inclined was a big cause of the clot.
That clot caused lots of swelling and re-routing of the veins. I’m not sure what that’s called. My recovery was extra slow because of that. The pain decreased but never fully went away.
Then about a year ago, I noticed the pain getting worse. I went back to Ogden at the end of 2016 and he said that the joint had not fully fused. He called it a mis-fusion. I had some other health issues and wasn’t able to schedule a second surgery until June 2017. I went to two other orthopedists to make sure that they agreed with Ogden.
So ultimately I decided to let Ogden do the second surgery. He fused the talo-navicular joint again and also the calcanous to the talus. He seemed to be very concerned to make sure that the surgery worked the second time. He said that my fusion was the first he had ever had that didn’t take. To make sure that it worked the second time, he added the second joint to help stabilize the joint and he took some bone goo from my leg bone near my knee to smear it on the bone surfaces to promote bone growth.
I’m still recovering from the surgery but the x-rays show that the fusion was good. The bones are fused.
In spite of my troubles, I like Ogden and I would recommend him.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Dr. Ogden repaired my ruptured achilles tendon in 2010. He was very good and genuinely cares. Made sure I understood the pros and cons of surgery before doing the operation. Highly recommend.

He operated on my ankle. After losing the foot to his butchery I now walk like the penguin.

I’ve known and been a patient of Dr Charles Murphy for years, and have nothing but good things to say about his treatment.

Ogden is the best in the city at foot/ankle surgery. That is where the other orthopedists send their patients with complicated issues beyond their scope.
