Anything short of a swift spinning-heel kick to the jaws of both suspects was likely considered less than manly by your SO.

I was walking on Poydras too that night on the way to dinner and some guy began to approach us for money.

Must be something about that side of town.

That was my initial plan but she fricked it up by acknowledging their presence.

Yes you're a dick for not spending your evening talking to homeless people. Now go back down there and apologize.

Man, we tried to coach you up all week about your trip to the big city, and you didn't take our advice.

Fair enough. But I did save a pretty good amount of money by parking on the street in the CBD and not taking a taxi.

I'll admit that as we we're leaving the show things looked pretty sketchy after we passed City Hall, but surprisingly we didn't have any trouble on the way back to the car.

Let me get this straight....your SO was going to the concert but you werent?

Obviously we were both going. I just chose to ignore them and say otherwise. She foolishly decided to inform them of our plans.

were you the only 2 people waling on the street going towards the Arena? I mean, I'm sure it was pretty obvious to the homeless man that you in fact were going to a concert at the Arena and you straight up lied to him.

You would have been better off just not saying anything at all, or just be honest with him?

You have no idea how badly I wanted to turn around. I take after my dad when it comes to getting hostile whenever provoked so I didn't want to write a check that my arse couldn't cash, you know what I mean?

And whenever you are outnumbered, you always need be cognizant of the possibility that the other might join in if things get physical. I'm a decently built guy but I'm not stupid enough to think I can take on two grown men at once. Especially, when I have to worry about my SO being present.

We were the only one walking down Loyola.

I view my response as ignoring him, more or less. Plus, I really don't give two shits if I'm not truthful to some guy I just met on the street.

I figured that if I said we were going to the concert then he would make the assumption that we had money. Consequently, he would either ask for some or possibly try something worse.

It's not about being the bigger man, it's about minimizing risk.
