You pay people to take care of the chickens while you're gone, like you would any other animal you own.

And chickens are fricking easy. Easier than cats.

Did you pass the Bar on your first try?

Good investment

Seriously. How many eggs do you eat each week? The money you spend on a chicken pin, chicken house and feed you do not save money.

Now knowing what your chicken eats compared to what these chicken farms feed them might be worth it. But don’t say it’s to save money. That’s just plain stupid.

One of my aunts has chickens. Her husband (my uncle) ran a gas/oil change/tires station and when he sold it he started to just do tires. He had a big enough garage to do it at home and sense my aunt would have more than enough eggs she started giving them to his customers. People started calling her asking if they could buy eggs from her. They are better than the store bought eggs, but depending on where you live, you have to make sure coyotes can't get to the chickens, because if they can they will frick shite up and you will know it before even getting to the chicken coop because there will be feathers all over the place. Someone I know who has a chicken coop, he put bricks up on all sides and a mobile roof that he closes at night. He has a board he puts in front of the gate and if you didn't know there was a chicken coop there you wouldn't even see it. He sees paw prints around it from time to time, but nothing has gotten to the chickens yet. Overall they are really not that much work as long as you have them somewhere where no other animal can get to them

Up here in Massachusetts we have coyotes, fox, feral cat, Bob cat, and *especially* Fisher cats that will destroy an unsecured chicken coop.

HPAI has been a real problem for over two years now. Ask the producers who have had to depopulate.

Backyard flocks are at risk as well. As are birds that visit feeders in the winter.

Pray it doesn't jump to swine or you will have expensive (even worse than now) bacon to go with your expensive eggs.

That's a fisher cat? Never saw one of those (even in a picture I don't think) before.

There are other threats, but the biggest are coyotes, but damn, that thing looks like it can do some damage.

Trump is working on a cure for that aggressive Avion bird flu. Should have something ready by this evening.

I got an idea for a cure: how about publicly hanging Anthony Fauci, Francis Collins, Peter Daszak, and Ralph Baric?
