Alabama executes Michael Wayne Eggers
Georgia executes Carlton Gary
quote:
“Michael Eggers showed no mercy towards his victim, his former employer, Bennie Francis Murray, who donated much of her personal time to helping him find a new job," Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall said in a statement Thursday night. "On the night of her murder, Mrs. Murray gave Eggers a lift to pick up his car. Instead of showing her gratitude, Eggers rewarded her kindness by brutally beating and strangling her. He even returned to the scene of the crime to make sure she was dead. After 18 years of waiting, justice has finally been served tonight for the Murray family.”
Georgia executes Carlton Gary
quote:
Gary was convicted of murdering three women — Florence Scheible, 89; Martha Thurmond, 70; and Kathleen Woodruff, 74 — by strangling them with their own stockings. But he also was blamed for four other rapes and strangulations of older women during a seven-month period in 1977 and 1978. He later was linked to similar murders that occurred in New York in the early 1970s, before he moved back to his hometown of Columbus.

does anyone else find it strange we can put these people to death and when we have a family member suffering and in misery with a terminal illness, we/they can’t end their pain legally? We treat our criminals and pets more humanely than we do our own families. What a weird world we live in.

Eggers previously fired his appointed attorneys, dropped his appeals and requested an expedited execution date.

Carlton Gary was a prolific multi-state serial killer/rapist and l remember the histeria in Columbus GA during that time....especially among older white ladies. And another black serial killer, William Hance, was trying to throw LE off of his trail by claiming to be a vigilante group of white men killing black women in response to the “Stocking Strangler” just added some interesting dynamics to the situation. Of course the obligatory race issues came up in the Gary case often delaying things. Hance was executed in 1994.

Some of those “guilty POS murderers” aren’t actually guilty.
