These kinds of crimes happen way too often and people are tired of it. If he didn't shoot these kids, they'd be out stealing and causing tens of thousands more damage. Whether 13 years old or 30, these criminals deserve to be 6 feet under

Do y'all think criminals review the criminal code in their jurisdiction before jacking cars? Some people are pieces of shite and no words on a piece of paper or potential punishment is going to deter them from doing whatever they want to do

They'd think twice when one of their buds was shot, and another, and another.

Criminals do what they THINK they can get away with... start letting citizens police their own property and criminals might think again before breaking into someone's house or car.

This already happens constantly. Not many of these thugs grow old as free men. They either end up in jail or die in the streets.

There was theft when this was commonplace, going back ages. Theft, burglary, etc., is never going away.

Should be able to.

Should be able to chase down and open fire on car thieves on public roads?

On your own property...... depending on the circumstances, I could possibly understand, but giving chase in vehicle while putting the public in more danger with your actions is inexcusable .

No there isn't. Louisiana's statute only requires intent to inflict great bodily harm resulting in a death. Firing a gun at them nails that one out of the park.

Statutes don’t convict people. Juries do.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just saying it isn’t automatic.

How is letting punks get away with the attempted intentional interference with the property of someone else serve as justice?

So this is not vengeance, how?

Definitely has been corrupted to that but property protection is the true function of police.

They apply the statute to the facts.

Sure nothing is automatic, but this one happens to be about as clear cut as it gets.

No. It is justice. Society is backwards when it’s all about “Criminal Justice”. It’s the victims that require justice, not the criminals.

Lol, this happens ALL THE TIME in that world i.e.: drugs and gun violence, gangs, etc. Yet here we are like 75 years later with the same damn shite.

On your own property is one thing....once you give chase off your property in a vehicle and start engaging thieves with gun fire..you become more of a public threat than the thieves. And I say this as someone that survived an attempted murder by four thugs trying to do a home invasion through my garage. Luckily they were terrible shots.

Your opinion of justice in this circumstance is irrelevant. It can fit your definition of that and also be vengeance, which this without a doubt was that. He sought retribution for them attempting to break into his car. He completed the act of retribution. Which is the definition of vengeance.

It's different.

Your example is criminals killing off other criminals. There's a whole untapped population of law abiding citizens that'd like the opportunity to protect themselves and property without state interference.

I agree... when it expanded beyond his own property he definitely put other citizens in harm's way and should be punished for that part of it.

Nah. It’s Math.

Negative Squared Justice.

Where when you multiply a negative times a negative, you get a positive.

Exactly what occurred here. Location is irrelevant.

Seems like he's being punished for putting caps in the asses of criminals moreso than having put the greater population in danger.
