Too many people use PTSD as an excuse for their poor judgement or reckless behavior. She probably served in a support role...highly doubt she saw any combat. Don't make excuses for her. She was drunk or high, did something incredibly stupid, felt like shite later, then killed herself over it

The dog wasn't even her's. It was her ex-husbands. They were watching over the dog while the ex was on deployment. The boyfriend hated the dog and they bought the rifle specifically to kill the animal. They weren't drunk or high. They did this as an act of malice to torture her ex-husband.
When her ex-husband confronted her about what she did, she tried to slice her neck open with a razor blade and then tried to down some hand sanitizer. The girl was crazy.

Some of the most intelligent and learned people I know are deeply religious. Likewise, I know plenty of very smart people that are agnostic at best.
