quote:so dumb, look what W did to that balanced budget.
Bush tax hikes and Newt balanced the budget. Clinton was just… there.

Grunge was starting up in the late 80’s but exploded into the mainstream in late 91 & overnight hair bands or even bands that were thought of as hair bands but really weren’t were basically laughed at & put out of business.
The alternative music scene was amazing. So diverse.
Pantera carried metal through the 90’s

Music died

It was the greatest era in music history, across all genres and especially country
And the music won't truly die until the day Sir James Paul McCartney leaves this realm.

quote:I'm the idiot? Who controls the purse strings? Who had to be dragged kicking and screaming into signing welfare reform after vetoing it twice? Who had his wife working on socialized medicine? How would that have balanced a budget?
Clinton was the President, idiot
The only idiots are those who have a shallow view of history and give him credit because he was basically beaten into doing it, idiot. Congrats on your pedestrian view of history.

90's is also when all the Zero Tolerance shite started. You hear stories from the 70s and 80s about kids having shotguns in their truck at school, pocket knives weren't a problem, and even in the very early 90's smoking was still allowed in high school (outdoors) and the smoking age (in GA) was 16. The 90's is when all that ended.
Graduated in 97. We still would bring guns and leave them in our trucks from duck hunting before school and to go dove hunting after school.

people say this a lot but I have never and will never understand or agree with it. It may have been a shift from the old school waylon/merle/conway/jones type of country music, but it was still good country music. Just in a differnet form. Garth, alan jackson, reba, shania twain, brooks and dunn, vince gill, mark chesnutt, doug stone, diamond rio, travis tritt, sammy kershaw, tracy lawrence, and on and on and on.
If you want to compare that old school 70s/80s country to what's listed above and say it's better...ok fine that's cool. But at least that 90s group can stand on its own as being still damn good and fun to listen to. NOW...compare that to what came after that we have now. The nashville bro country. Jason aldean, luke bryan, and several dozen other soundalike posers. To compare the 90s country to today's country is like night and day. I know waylon has that famous quote about garth brooks and pantyhose but man he'd be spinning in his grave if he knew what things were like now.
100% this.
The 90's was Country music's golden age.

quote:yes you are. Clinton ultimately had it in line to balance the budget, a rinky dink speaker can only do so much. It was a good marriage. What I said was true.
I'm the idiot?
Clinton was the last president to balance the budget. That's a fact.

Drugs and gangs moved from big cities like Los Angeles to smaller cities like Little Rock. A lot of gang violence in inner cities peaked in the early to mid 90's.

The most annoying thing about the 90s was how long it took me to get armpit hair

quote:You really are a clown. Clinton was resisting the entire time. He was forced into not fricking everything up. He also benefitted from the tech boom and the end of the Cold War. All he had to do was sign. But keep on with your simple opinion.

Again, what I said was true. He was the last president to balance the budget.
W. Benefited from a surplus and blew it all away with his stupid policies and wars
You don't like facts.

He got the glory alright, sticking a cigar in an interns pussy.
Didn’t give a frick then, don’t now. Except the part where he lied.
