That's one of the reasons there is a new weedlawn.

Closing schools for rain, even heavy rain, in SE LA is silly. This creates a chain reaction where parents have to call in to work and employers have to find replacements or reschedule clients. If a student can't make it to school, fine. But, most will easily be able to attend classes.

Disagree. You probably aren't in it and don't understand the level of flooding happening or about to happen.

Pretty much the only reason. The fault ran through D, E, and F.

"Hey! Hey y'all! Let's build a school on an earthquake fault line and see what happens?"

"Cool brah. Let's do it."

You my friend are a dumbass. If roads are flooded do you want a bus load of kids driving through that? Yeah it might not be flooded at your house but do you know what else is out there? Some people should have their opinions taken away from them.

I'm pissed about the closing, but it was the right move. Attendance would have been sub 50% anyway.

A whole section of I-55 in Tangipahoa Parish is closed due to water... But yeah schools shouldn't be closed. Whatever.

No doubt it was right decision to close today. It's been raining hard for the past 6 hours...

guess they should also be closed when it's too sunny due to risk of heat stroke or skin cancer

ETA: the real issue here is that about the only thing they do well these days is provide a free baby sitting service and bad weather days are the one time their best skill is needed the most....

They have x amt of days per year they have to be open. No one is going to waste a day on rain this early in the school year.

It's not based on days, it's based on contact minutes. Every school district builds in more minutes than it needs.
