I was in Nashville last week and they opened a new store. Positioned as upmarket outdoor goods. Fly and hunting mostly. "Cool that's me I'll stop in".

WTF did I go see??? There were like five reels and one rod, all overpriced and "limited edition". There was a gun room with perhaps 10 shotguns of good pedigree, of course all overpriced. There was a barbershop with a couple hipster types getting a shave. There was a lot of "hunting clothes" that strike me more as fashion. The only other customer was foaming about his new $90 baseball cap that he wears at Alys Beach.

Not sure sure what the camo pocket does for Mr. Tats. Maybe he puts his coors banquet in the pocket so no deer can see it or something?... still trying to figure out the market here.

That's just the current state of hunting. I sold a Kuiu bow case to a baw last year. He wanted the case because it matched the camo that he wore.

It's yuppiedom for southerners, the equivelant of dudes in New York City wearing Rolexes and driving convertibles in the '80s.

Hunting is now just an aesthetic

Ah yes, the very real trend of the last 10-12 years where simply growing a beard makes someone an outdoor man.

I imagine the store you went to was simply marketed at hipsters that want to play dress up (and not even very well) to fake impress other hipster douchebags.
