My wife and I made the largest mistake of our married life. Worse than running up credit card debt. We decided our son was ready for a dog. He had been asking. He is 6, so we decided on a rescue dog/puppy. Got a cute 8-9 week old mutt. This is the damned Marley and Me dog. I've raised dogs before. I've never encountered one this stupid. Potty training is a disaster, but not the worst part, it is actually improving. EVERYTHING else is a disaster.

Chewing/mouthing/destroying. As I type this she pissed on the floor. They typical commands of a stern "no, drop, down" do not work. When she play bites with you typical techniques of two finger tapping the nose with "DROP" or squeezing her snout when she is biting a hand/finger too hard DO NOT WORK. She just continues to think you are playing. I would have to reach a point where I am afraid to crush her snout. Making matters worse, her favorite chew toy is our 9 year old chihuahua. She has typical chihuahua "frick you" attitude. And she has the beginnings of arthritis. She tries to establish dominance but this puppy is too stupid to register it. She trots off but is right back whenever the thought goes back to her retard head.

Cesar Milan? I've watched Dog whisperer off and on many times. Each episode is the same. 2-3 finger poke and a command word to stop an unwanted behavior. When none of that works he uses the hand to pin the dog on its side and make it submit. This does not work. She still fights like you are playing. I got her one time. On her side pinned down and she believed I was serious. Again, only using thumb, index, and middle finger to simulate a bite. Only used the amount of pressure needed to hold her down, and this dog LOST HER shite! I really felt bad. I've never heard a dog howl like that unless it was in pain or being beaten. And she would not stop. I had to let her go.

Making matters worse, my 6 year old son was NOT ready for a dog. I knew we would be doing the dirty work, but he wants little to do with the dog, and is put off by the dogs rough and tumble nature. Still just a tad too young and immature to give back what the dog is dishing out.

In the end I will be the a-hole. Discipline of the dog and the dog will fear me (needs to fear someone) or return the dog while still cute enough for someone to snap up (puppies dont last at CAPS), which will certainly make me the villain.

TLDR

ETA we are also now trying the Bitter Apple spray which works but you can only spray so much and on so many things.

Thanks in advance.

Send her off to boot camp. There has to be one near Katy.
Send her off for real dog training, and she will come back four weeks later changed.

Of send her back to be euthanized, your choice.

Without knowing all details, I would say you are giving your dog too much freedom, which is why your dog is peeing anywhere and everywhere.

Your dog is bored. Your dog is not getting enough exercise and socialization.

Your dog does not need to fear anyone. You are doing it all wrong.

Find a responsible owner if you're not willing to adapt.

First, you've described just about every puppy in the world. He will get better. Give it time. Crate train him.

Second, a 6 year old is never going to be responsible enough to handle a dog. Perhaps, as the puppy grows into a nice dog, as I'm sure he will, your child will grow fond of him, but you'll still have to be the one to make sure the dog is fed properly, etc.
Good luck.

Yep. Wife wouldn't let it go for months that she wanted a dog, that "our boys would love it." I said absolutely not for the longest time, before finally relenting. Predictably my wife hated the dog and it always bit and nibbled on the boys. After 2 months, I brought him to a shelter. My wife was pregnant with our third child and I was not about to have a stupid dog trying to nibble on our baby. Plus I was tired of getting bit and cleaning up poop/pee every half hour.

She will adopt out. Puppies aren't put down. But we need to decide soon. Mutts that are near full grown aren't cute anymore and ARE put down. I don;t care what the shelter says.

This is the problem with rescues. Or as Bill Burr calls them, "used dogs".
Get your son a pure bred stallion.

The problem is not with the dog. The problem is with the owner and his family.

You are correct. SPCA over here off Hempstead have their smoke towers going 24/7 for that exact reason. Put him on Craigslist - there are tons of people on there looking for a decent dog.

If you are intent on keeping the dog, which it appears you are not, stick with the crate training and obedience school. It'll help in the long run and noticeably sooner than later.

Fear=Pack leader.

I'm not saying it cowers constantly from sight of me, but when I say "no" it understands.

We are crate training, but the dog will live in the crate at this rate. which is preferable to the shelter she was in.

Walks to follow next round of shots. This week.

Try not to hit the face or mouth area. That's only making it want to play more. Try spanking the thigh instead and making it sit until it calms down.

You could always find a trainer or take for classes at Pet Smart.
