My wife cut her dad off. He left the family when they were young and there were lots of struggles. Later in life with the children all grown he tried to make amends and the kids gave him a shot to redeem himself. For several years he showered them with gifts and was Mr Fun Guy. Then he ran off to Florida with his son's baby momma and now he's cut off permanently.

My mother once went crazy and verbally attacked my wife. It wasn't until a year later that I spoke to my parents.
It was too late the altercation made me lose a year with my dad. By the time I was able mend relations my dad only had 3 months left to live. My worst fears had came true. I will really never forgive my mother for that.
I bet your wife is the one who is at fault, blame her

quote:That sounds like wise advice. Our own emotions betray us and limit us as often as they help us if we are not vigilant about how we let them control us.
I actually went to see a Deacon about this .. he said among other things, 1) to not speak ill of him to my children as they're all old enough to decide for themselves and 2) to stay open to the possibility BUT I'm by no means obligated to do anything.
