It might have been Jackson Prep in 1992 I'm thinking of. I can't remember the details from over 30 years ago.

We were undefeated going into that game, and thought we were good beating up on Silliman and the like.

Then I lined up against this dude on the first play with a full beard, maybe 17-18 yrs old, 225 lbs and I was about a 6' 160 lb freshman, and he just trucked me all game

My cousin played for VC in the mid 90's and they would routinely get blown out by Notre Dame. He ended up returning a kickoff for a touchdown against them and even though they lost like 50-6, he got death threats from their fans just because they actually scored a touchdown

I played college basketball at a small NAIA school. We played southeastern in Oklahoma. The school where Dennis Rodman played.

We were down by 40 at half. I think we scored 28 points and they got close to 100. Hated it but our school got a check from them and we got better uniforms the following week!

In the summer of 1945, the Marines set up a baseball team that included Ted Williams and Ted Lyons (hall of fame pitcher from Louisiana).

Dad, small town guy who went to a high school with no baseball, decided to try out. They stuck him in centerfield. "Ted Williams hit three fly balls so high I couldn't even see the ball ... I knew I was way out of my league."

My freshman year in HS I ran cross country. I was fast for a short distance but i couldn't run a mile without sucking wind. My first invitational in the city I finished dead last.

I eventually figured out (after I left home for college) my lungs were coated in second hand cigarette smoke since both parents smoked like chimneys and house was always in a yellow haze.

It was amazing what a clear set of lungs can do for your health and endurance.

So you grew up in Misssissipi? I thought you were a Baton Rouge guy. How did your journey take you to Baton Rouge?

The school that I went to K-10th was in Pride. It's almost as close to Mississippi as it is Gonzales.

As a 2A high school we met John Curtis

in the early 80's Curtis was in our District (St. Martin's). We dressed out 35 players. Curtis pulled up with 3 busloads of kids and dressed out 100 on the sidelines. Some were 8th graders, but their introduction was meant to intimidate lesser schools. I don't think we ever scored on them as they were clearly, bigger, stronger, faster, and older .

I went to a small single A academy in MS. We were mid tier I would say. When playing schools comparable to us in size, we won, the second we jumped up, we lost, typically. We played some teams I'm sure some of y'all are familiar with, Ben's Ford, Pine Hills, Trinity Episcopal(Steven Ridley graduated from there), Prairie View from Bastrop. We always smoked Ben's Ford and Pine Hills, they were in our conference. Our biggest loss was against Tri-County Academy out of Flora, MS and it just so happened to be for the conference championship. We were bigheaded on a 6 game winning streak and they took us to the woodshed. Of course, we had 22 guys dressed and only 18 of us played a significant amount and they had like 40+, but I want to say the final was 62-8

Went 0-10 one year in High School football.

Worst loss was 0-40, and we were in that game until the opening kickoff.

I did much better after each game with our (well-rested) cheerleaders, that was truthfully the only reason I played at all.

We only had female cheerleaders; sorry Aggies if I unintentionally got you going there.

Yes, more times than I can count. It sucks but all you can do is laugh about when looking back on it

We played them as well. I used to love going over there playing baseball in that old stadium.

Yes, a rec league basketball team. On not a team sport I have been the hack golfer with 3 other scratch/low single digit handicaps in a local tournament. I just tried to stay out their way.

Our JV team got beat 77-0 in football. Was a massive 178lb OL / DL.

Personal worst defeat: Was kind of fast for a white dude. Came in 2nd in our county in Junior High in (what was then) the 440 yd. dash. So, in High School I got the brilliant idea to ask the coach to let me run the 100 yd. dash. Our county routinely sent players to UF and FSU, some went pro. Guy that won it that day was about 6'1 220 lb. (was an RB and went on to college) ran a 9.8, like a 10.7 100m these days. I ran a 11.2 (12.2 100m). Needless to say, came in last and never ran it again.

My daughter just started HS golf and they are pretty good and most teams arent.
They won two weeks ago by 97 strokes. You only count 4 scores per team

also in college we would get murdered about 4 times a year where we didnt want to burn pitching and the backend of our bullpen would get left for dead.

we were the #4 national seed my freshman year and got beat by LSU (#2 national seed) like 17-2 on saturday. Little girl tapped me on the shoulder in the bullpen and asked me if we had ever won a game because we were terrible.
Section of fans behind her were dying laughing and had put her up to it. We won sunday but lost the series.

We won multiple series 2 games to 1 where the loss was by 15+ runs

I coached HS bball for a few seasons for an extremely small, private, rural Christian school because they couldn't find anyone else, and they were close to not being able to field a team. Coached the girls for 3 years and the boys for one. I remember one game with the boys, we played another small Christian school that was known for recruiting black players that had been kicked out of the public school system. They had us 63-12. At halftime.

My freshman year I made varsity football, and we played a much bigger school with a bunch of cornfed dudes on it. I played tight end and was assigned to try to block some dude with a beard. We got our asses whipped like 43-7 or something like that

My daughters cheer and dance for a small private school in that league, MAIS. Two weeks ago, they played Hartfield(Private school outside Jackson, MS) who obviously cheats like U-High does. They poach talent from all the Jackson area public schools.

Now the OT needs to realize schools in this league rarely have a football player get offers from D1 schools. It's on par with a Class B or C league in Louisiana.

These dudes were on the field against us two weeks ago. All four were offered from multiple SEC schools. I'm happy we only lost 49-0(that's with a running clock midway through the 2nd quarter). The last guy is already a top 3 safety in the country and is only a sophomore. He had an INT that looked like PP7 against our kids.
