I can definitely see that mentality among people 75+. What really do you have to lose?
I think it’s the 60-65 year olds that are the most concerned. They still have 20 years of life expectancy.

Most people over 70 have less than 10 good years left. Healthy people even in their 70s have a 98% or better survival rate. Many are not willing to trade 10% of their remaining life for a 2% chance of dying and are offended by those who are trying to make the decision for them.

My 89 year old MIL went to the grocery. She has had enough.

63 here. 6 years ago, the wife and I were told to get my things in order. Told those two doctors to just get me back up on my feet and that both are fired. I'm still here.

There is a very large percentage of people (around 50%) who simply get the virus, and are asymptomatic. They have to take precautions as to not spread it. That's it. It's not like anybody who gets it is immediately rushed to ICU and placed on a ventilator. Nor does it even mean that a lot of covid 19 positive people feel sick at all for that matter. This media induced mania of "OH MY GOD YOU ARE GOING TO DIE!" needs to stop. Right. fricking. Now.
I think slowly but surely, a bunch of people are finally getting that. Yes, you're gonna have the Karens of the world who are too embarrassed to admit that they were duped so they keep going along with the bullshite. But I think in large part, most age groups (even the 60-65 range that you reference) have realized the deal of what's going on.

No real objection here, though probably not the best plan in all the world.

Yep, there we are. Zero personal responsibility, because god's got ya.
People have been told over and over again that wearing a mask isn't to protect you; it's to protect people from you if you're a carrier and don't realize. Yet, it's more important to them to be smarter than the sheeple than make the uber minor concession of wearing a mask in public. So strong, so brave.

My dad is 74 and my mom will be 70 this summer. I’ve only seen them a few times since this all started, social distancing of course. However I want to go see them today but not sure if I should since they are both in the high risk categories.
What’s everyone else doing?

I feel fine. Sounds like my post made you feel a certain way, though, being all you could manage was that weak arse retort

The total fatality rate for people over 70 in Louisiana is 2.5% and over half these people were in nursing homes and would not be considered healthy. This is based on the IHME estimated infection rate for Louisiana.
According to the CDC 75 year old men have an 80% ten year mortality rate and 75 year old women have a 60% ten year mortality rate. For most people, quality of life declines with age.

You better double-up on your mask or stay home, because I'm never wearing one. I go to the store all the time too Josh.

Spoke w my dad yesterday. At 77 you could tell he was ready to roll w it versus stay cooped up another 12 months.

Again, if you are at risk or scared, stay home. Make people who come to see you wear mask and gloves and do all that you need to so you can feel safe.
How long do you suggest people have to wear a mask? Four weeks? Eight weeks?

My dad just the other day said “I’m fricking tied of this shite. I’d rather just get it and be done with it.”

There are people who legit can't wear the masks. What about them?

You don’t care so much that you keep posting in this thread to tell people you don’t care while chastising them for not wearing masks
