Yep. Had the wind up Evel jumping bike. Destroyed that winder. People look at it today and it's no big deal but he's doing that on a big arse bike and if you were going to get to watch it, you had to catch it live. So it was a big deal leading up to it.

i remember watching this on Wild World of Sports. His chute opened as he left the ramp, and he landed on the same side of the river and then flipped over in the water

It was more like the idea of the Snake River jump got him heaps of attention. He was already world famous.

However, it was a dismal failure as far as stunts go------more hype and buildup and not much in the way of results, but he had bigger balls than I possess because I would have never thought about attempting such a feat.

I was out in Vegas playing golf in the 90’s and passed EK walking into the clubhouse. He was using a cane and hobbling along like he was 80. Surprised he could play a round of golf. Couldn’t have been easy getting around after that career.
