I'd never get one if I had to tow shite. If I wanted to commute then a Tesla is good. And I got the Lightning because I can make the 45 mile round trip and haul mulch and dirt in the back. I have no complaints. Up here in East Texas I'm seeing a lot of the small Teslas.
There is some underlying redneck anti-green shite going on as to the hate. My wife has the choice of driving the 75 grand '22 Acura MDX or the 80 grand '23 Ford Lightning. She always takes the Lightning.

Tell me oh smart one, why oh why is it political? No clue on why evs are political?

I have no problem with evs, I have a problem with you morons thinking they are cheaper and saving the planet. They aren’t in every case.

It’s a virtue signal for smug assholes.

Transition to EV will be a slow roll out, and changes to current infrastructure will happen along the way. Of course the current grid couldn't handle 100% EV. Again, Palo Alto has this figured out very well. There are over 300 public charging stations there, and by far the highest rate of EVs per capita in the country at ~30% of 70k people.

Where I live currently an ev would be a good investment. Where I lived in Nola, not a fat fricking chance.

There are a few people on this very board that will show up to tell you how this is not the norm, blah, blah, blah...

These idiots have no clue about how anything works. Electricity is not generated by unicorn farts.

To what? Your batshit conspiracy theory that the government will control us through EVs, even though it would be just as easy to control us through ICE vehicles too?

Is that what I need to open up my eyes too?

So you're in here crying about a made up argument about "saving the planet" and arguing that point against exactly no one, is that what you're doing?

The dude calling others "morons" is in this thread literally having a make believe fight with no one on the other side.

Were ICE vehicle owners NOT increasingly frustrated with rising gas prices?

He spends $100/month more in electricity than I do, I spend $59/month more on gas than he does.

His lightning also cost 4x the amount of my vehicle.

Now, I would have to do some research on the cheaper ev models to get to where I think it’s more affordable, but he paid 150k on his vehicles. That’s crazy.

You guys have the exact same commute, same miles, same everything?

Just want to be certain, you think owning an EV is more expensive to charge than owning an ICE vehicle?

Can't wait to see this answer...

I was responding to the guy saying why are evs political?

But you are right, saving the planet is not a reason at all. Never once mentioned.

And yes evs were rightfully shat in early on because most were ugly and couldn’t go far.

So looks like I’m arguing with you and not just no one.

We could break this down but his car note still makes him the loser.

I simply stated I spend less than him.

I also said it’s not better or cheaper in every situation.

But I’m arguing with a moron.

So then you agree with me. The political side of the evs is made up bullshite.

Glad you are being honest.

So to confirm, anyone with a car note lower than yours, you are a loser compared to them, right?

How's your argument against those "saving the planets" types going in this thread? Are you winning?

f your take is that you're having a fake argument about "saving the planet" posters in this thread who do not exist and getting pretty upset about it, then yes, I do agree with you.

This is what I was responding to.

If the morons, yes I’m calling the Gavin types and the Biden types morons, weren’t pushing evs as saving the planet, you wouldn’t see the constant pushback on evs.

Now, come down off your high horse.

I didn't read the link, and am just curious-
how much of a hit is it on your electric bill, to keep your car charged? Let's assume everyday driver, normal suburban middle class house.

We already have to deal with the energy bills skyrocketing since the last hurricane here. My bill from Entergy (which, unfortunately for me, was averaged) has been basically double what it had been, for the same consumption. That really fricking sucks.

And when you think about it, EV further limits your options. The power goes out (storm), if I have gas I can drive somewhere with the AC on, charge my phone, listen to the radio for updates, etc. If I'm low in gas, I can stop at the nearest station which might be high, get a gallon or so, and then go to a better station.
If there's a disaster and gas is in demand, I can toss a few cans in my truckbed, sit in line maybe an hour (usu worst case scenario), and then fill up both the truck and the cans for my generator.

You lose literally ALL of this with an EV.

I'm in South La, we've had our share of storms recently. I'd be terrified without gas. I have some electric yard tools, a bunch of Ryobi stuff. Hedge clippers, weedeaters, blowers, pole saws etc. Once you get to the essential level of a mower, I want gas. Anything more essential, I definitely want gas.
