I 100% fricked myself by not getting gas last night. Had to drive all the way to the other side of minden to fill up.

I drove around for bit at 3 AM before finding a gas station that had power and running pumps. Knew it was going to be bad which is why I topped off and filled 2 gas cans and my generator. My fiancée is coming in with my other two gas cans filled plus told her to get as much in her truck as she could before entering the Arklatex.

All these over achieving hailers in the Southeast need to stop.

Current radar showing possible baseball hail and 70mph wind.

Hell, just go grab the helmet and bat and get in some batting practice.

ETA: Better adjust the swing. The warning calls for 80mph fastballs.

Just had some of the largest hail I’ve ever seen in person at my location north of Birmingham. 1” to 1.5” in diameter. Nothing like some of the crazy baseball sized hail we’ve seen in the south this week, but it was still pretty crazy.

That storm will probably produce similar to some of that from the looks of it.

Think it caused damage to your place?

Bad time for this storm.

Travel not recommended on Interstate 20/59, between Tuscaloosa and Eutaw, for at least the next hour, due to large hail and high winds. If you are travelling southwest of Tuscaloosa, pull off and take shelter until the storm has passed.

This storm going through Tuscaloosa and Greene Counties is crossing I-59/20 with at least tennis ball to baseball sized hail and winds 70-80mph.

I don’t think it was quite large enough to do any damage, but some of it was very spikey. You could smell pine in the air from where it had been hitting pine trees, though.

These storms remind me more of something you would see in Texas or Oklahoma. Hail this large is very rare down here.

The one crossing the state line now between Livingston and York is warned for golf balls.

Definitely check the roof, or have it checked.

I was driving back from Tuscaloosa when that hit Caledonia. Missed my house in Caledonia with the big stuff and only a few good ones hit the truck between Tuscaloosa and Caledonia

Another from Caledonia today that may challenge the record:

FYI: To anyone who may ever get this type hail. If you grab them like that (when it is safe), go ahead and take your pics, but chunk them in your freezer ASAP. Notify your local NWS office and let them know you have the hailstones preserved. There is research being done that can use the the stone to 3D scan, and you may be in the history books with a state record. It won't pay anything for your windshields and such, but it is still cool.
