I’ve lived near Essen lane my entire life. Never have seen it this bad until last few months. Is it the construction on Jefferson that’s playing a part of this? It’s awful. Took 50 minutes to go from one side of Essen to the other

Why didn’t you just take the Essen loop?

In my opinion, traffic on Essen has always been a shitshow.

College, Essen, & Seigen are the 3 worst roads in BR. I despise all 3

I agree 100%. It’s always been bad but it’s been on another level lately

Yes the clusterfrick on Jefferson isn't helping the regularly poor traffic on Essen.

BR rates at the top in poorly planned road construction.

The name Essen fools you into thinking it would run with German efficiency.

Damn. If it’s worse now than it has always been then I’m staying the hell away from there.

I’ve worked off of Essen for 25 years and it’s sucked the entire time. Moved out of the BR Area in 2005 but travel back to Essen area often and it’s terrible.

I believe that the interstate being torn up has had an impact on surface traffic.

You should be numb to it by now, unless you’re 4 years old

Essen is fricking godawful on a good day.

As Jefferson gets worked on and both 10 and 12 have issues (construction shutdowns, accidents, etc), it will only get worse.

I've been all over the country. Baton Rouge has the most asinine street flow/traffic light/hazard construction I've ever seen.

Just at at Government St, an improvement today made it horrible.

Damn man that sucks. Was it really 50 mins, no exaggerations? For real? If so you could make a circle around BR in 50 mins. Trust those DOTD peeps, you know they will do what's best for you (NOT).

You have less people on Jefferson because of the construction. So Bluebonnet and Essen have been even worse.

Essen was always bad from Perkins to I10. But really ever since the I12 East entrance on Essen opened it’s been a shite show for the entire length. People think they need to get in the lane for the interstate as soon as they pass under I10.

Imagine if it still wasn't widened from Perkins to 10

It's only been 25 years since I lived off of Essen, and it still sucks re: traffic. Shocking. Shocking I tell you. Half of my commute to NBR was spent trying to get to I-10 from 2 miles away from Essen. But yeah, EBR, BTR, and Louisiana are good at fixing things.

Wait, traffic was better after Katrina when I had a house on Millerville. Oh wait. No. Austin, Atlanta, and DC are worse, but barely.
