The Whitest dude to ever run for President was John Kerry in 2004. This cat is the kind of white dude that black comedians use as a stereotype for uptight white people: Rich, stiff white dude that hangs out in Martha's Vineyard and plays polo and shite.

He got 90% of the black vote.

That's monolithic.

white privilege =/= wealth.

privilege = wealth

white =/= wealth

white = privilege (to this jon butler guy).

my basic math would suggest doesnt have a privilege that the president possesses.

I agree, but you are starting to see propaganda outlets like the New York Times, one of the largest propaganda outlets of them all, start to take a step back and become more critical of all of this.
Because they have other agendas to attend to.

ESPN = "We got this."

ESPN is more left wing than Pravda. If they didn't own the football they would have less viewers than the Oprah Channel.

So, being rich makes a person effectively "white"?

Fair, point taken, on a superficial note. But many black people, from my conversations with my best friend(s) and others, seem to have an inherent bond linked to their color, espeicall through the shared experiences of racism, discrimination, and segregation. Thats why you can see a rich black kid pulling hard for the inner city kid from the hood.

We dont have that collective experience, which is why I think its so easy for us to dismiss poor whites or less fortunate whites. We have, in a way, had the true experience of a individualistic and more self-centered society. Those groups had to cling to each other for their entire existence on this planet, due to the social and economic barriers once placed in their way.

I think thats why we dont get why a rich kid would ever associate or fight for the plights of some poor kid. Thats why, to me, why using things that MAKE sense to us dont really fit into how they have experienced things or may see things.

I also think the surge in all activism is partially due to the discrimination some groups have felt and to their empowerment in this new climate. Things are changing, and this isnt, unfortunately or fortunately, ronald reagans USA anymore. Our demographics are evolving and as we embrace more and more different people, the ideals of our country suggest that they be respected and protected just as our class was in the 1940s.

No, being rich does make a person effectively privileged.

Did he ever say that he hasn't experienced any "privilege" of his own? Are "privileged" people not allowed to protest racism?

I'll tell you what is crazy: It's crazy that a country with covert, systematic, widespread racism elected a black man as president twice.

fricking amazing.

ESPN is a sports network with a large black audience

This isn't a sports story outside of football team

They gain nothing by rocking the boat. Just play the safe card and wait a week until this blows over

It's just funny that he asked the president to admit his white privilege. I think we should all be required to announce our privileges to the world.

I was born smart, handsome and with a big cock. That gave me many privileges. I apologize to those that were less fortunate.
