The only read first couple posts after OP so may have already been stated.

What happened with ESPN is they thought that everyone would always need to watch SC and ESPN to get their news. They went all in on new studio moving out in LA buying all the rights to the leagues. They didn't see the Internet push coming. There is no need to watch sports center now. Curry does something dirty I see it on Twitter or vine 2 mins after it happens.

We use to watch sports center because that was the only way we found out what happened in sports that day and it's just not the case now.

They went all in on a hand they were running out of outs with.

The people that say they wouldn't miss ESPN are just lying. Or not really sports fans to begin with. ESPN brings the majority of content to our TVs.

ESPN just made many narrow minded decisions without really seeing the future ahead

Not really. Get roku, Amazon fire stick, or Apple tv. Plug it in. Download the channels you want and pay for them.

I thought most cable packages were less than $100 a month. But sling tv is $20-25, hbo $9-10, Netflix $8-9, hulu $8-10. So I'll go the high end and say you'll have everything you want to watch for $55.

and you still have to pay at least 60-70 Bucks for a good internet connection. Why dont people include that as well? You still need that for all the streaming services. You are pretty much breaking even

It's not the subscriber fees I worry about. It's data caps from the providers that have already started rolling out in certain markets.

Have cable? 10mbps Internet is $29.99/month. No cable? 10mbps internet is $69.99/month with a 100gb cap.

Just wait, that's what's coming.

It's because most of us are already paying for internet whether we are streaming or not. I have the $35 15 Mbps from Cox and I have never had a problem streaming on 2 devices at the same time.

I still say the best idea would be to just show live games with no commentators and just microphones in the stadiums. Make it like you are at the game.

I couldn't agree more.

I don't watch ESPN or listen to their radio shows anymore and I feel free and enlightened.

Got a great idea for a tv station. Let's take a meaningless rumor and analyze ad nauseum. Then we can convince the masses that it's interesting news.

My question is, is the $6.61 for JUST ESPN(1) or is it for ALL the ESPN channels?

That is just ESPN (1)

We all benefit from the bundle in that you subsidize channels I watch but you don't and I subsidize channels you watch but I don't. The smaller the bundle, the less subsidization and the higher cost per channel. That is just a fact

Maybe if they give out ESPY's to people like Bruce Jenner, their subscriber rate would go up? Wait.........

Thanks for posting this. As much ESPN as I watch, it's the best $7 per month I spend anywhere.

My question is this.
At some point in the near future ESPN will lose the ability to pay our these large rights fees to the leagues and institutions for the rights to carry the games.
Who is going to pick it up? How much will the sports leagues and ncaa lose in the process? I fear that our haste to allay the giant and just stream it for free or nearly free, will someday nearly destroy our ability to watch the sports in the same volume we watch them today.
Please someone tell me how I'm wrong

In the Atlanta market Comcast has started capping people at 300gb.

Stream a few high definition football games and you will use a ton of data.

They then charge 10 dollars for every 50 gb you use after the cap.

The cable companies are getting theirs no matter what.

It is the stations like ESPN and HBO who people steal with ease that will get clipped.
